About This Role This position supports SecurTec's Finance and Accounting function from our West Palm Beach corporate headquarters. The Staff Accountant I plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and reporting.
Position Summary The Staff Accountant I is responsible for performing day-to-day general accounting activities, including bookkeeping, payroll support, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain broad exposure across the full accounting cycle while contributing to a growing company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general bookkeeping, including recording and posting journal entries
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions
- Support payroll processing, including review, reconciliation, and related journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including accruals and adjusting entries
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls
- Support the broader Finance team with ad hoc projects and analysis
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with month-end close in a corporate or multi-entity environment
- Exposure to payroll processing and reconciliation
- Coursework or progress toward CPA licensure
