We are seeking a Senior Web Developer to join the Engineering team to work in a fast-paced start-up like environment. The Sr. Web Developer will be a key role in the architecting and designing front-end UI for mission critical consumer facing applications with a mobile first mentality. We are looking for a passionate engineer who is good team player and likes to work in a fun and collaborative environment.
About our Technology Department:
Our technology team is responsible for building high transactional and scalable consumer-facing applications and internal tools for our customers leveraging micro services architecture. Majority of our consumers are on mobile devices; therefore, we constantly evaluate the latest tools and framework to optimize our websites on mobile devices to improve the user experience for better conversion.
Our modern technology platform is CI/CD enabled and runs in the AWS cloud. We use advanced monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Cloudflare, and PagerDuty for troubleshooting and debugging production issues.
We adopted modern frameworks/stack such as ReactJS, NodeJS, Gatsby and NextJS, for modernized applications developed using micro-frontend architecture. We take advantage of new initiatives to introduce technologies such as MongoDB, Zookeeper, and Redis to keep our stack current. We embraced Test Driven Development for writing quality code.
Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain clean, high quality, standards compliant code.
- Create optimized, performant mobile-friendly web pages that are cross-browser/cross-platform UI compatible.
- Implement excellent user interface features, optimizations, and enhancements.
- Collaborate with team for integrating presentation layer with web application.
- Keep up with current and emerging UI technologies and frameworks.
- Ability to deliver high quality code leveraging Test Driven Development
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues using troubleshooting and monitoring tools.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and should have good problem-solving skills.
- Facilitate engineering teams in the development of new features, services, and applications by ensuring development and security best practices are followed at design time.
- Work with Product Owner/Technical Lead to help translate business requirements into technical requirements, participate in code reviews, develop POCs, and maintain existing applications.
Skills
- Expert hands-on knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Proficiency in React and Node
- Experience with utilizing REST APIs
- Experience with JavaScript/UI testing frameworks
- Experience with databases is a big plus.
- Experience with responsive design is a big plus.
- Experience with CSS-in-JS library such as emotion-js
- Strong experience with Test Driven Development using unit testing and integration testing frameworks.
- Strong experience with multithreaded and highly scalable server-side development
- Good understanding of Amazon AWS ecosystem
- Nice to have experience with native mobile app development.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years’ experience in front-end/UI/JavaScript development.
- Experience translating mocks and wireframes into re-usable code templates.
- Strong working knowledge of developing mobile friendly, cross platform/browser compatible dynamic web applications.
- Familiarity with/and adherence to web standards.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Ability to adapt to various technologies and frameworks.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and problem solving under pressure of deadlines and resource constraints.
- Ability to communicate effectively using written methods – long-form writeups, documents, in addition to chat and email, to help reduce meetings.
