About The Role:
Baird is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the Operations Department as a Tax & Cost Reporting Sr Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, production, and issuance of client tax statements and IRS filings, while maintaining deep expertise in the Internal Revenue Code and IRS regulations applicable to tax information reporting. You will serve as a trusted partner to Operations leadership by delivering complex problem solving, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading process optimization efforts across tax and cost reporting activities.
The Sr Analyst will play a key role in long-term strategic planning, data integrity oversight, vendor management, and productivity and efficiency initiatives, ensuring Operations is well positioned to meet evolving regulatory and client needs. This role requires a strong combination of technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with partners at all levels of the organization.

- Provide high value service to internal and external clients in an environment that promotes Baird’s culture and the Operations mission and values statement.
- This role provides strategic project management and technical subject matter expertise to independently drive the execution of key Operations initiatives and activities; ensuring timely delivery in support of critical business success measurement goals as defined in Operations.
- Partner with Operations leadership to adhere to regulatory guidelines by continuously monitoring and maintaining expertise in the Internal Revenue Code and IRS regulations applicable to tax information reporting; assess regulatory changes and implement necessary process, system, or documentation updates to ensure compliance.
- Execute the preparation, production, and issuance of client tax statements and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings for Consolidated 1099 (1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-OID, 1099-MISC), 1042-S, 1097-BTC, 2439, PR480, 1099-R, 1099-Q, 5498, and 5498-ESA including coordination of mailing, printing, and imaging.
- Provide complex problem solving to help define and deliver on long-term strategic planning efforts to ensure that the operating unit is positioned to meet and exceed the needs relative to key Operations activities and Baird clients.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing business productivity and ensure data integrity expertise throughout the process.
- Drive productivity, efficiency and effectiveness initiatives (PE&E) and develop and implement new procedures to monitor productivity, quality output levels and increased efficiency.
- Maintain an understanding of the issues with internal partners and share information and key updates with the Operations team.
- Oversee the reconciliation of portfolio accounting and performance system data and custodian data.
- Develop and maintain procedures and audit tax reporting processes including reconciling to the multiple source systems to ensure accuracy of the client consolidated tax statements.
- Drive resolution of issues / ineffectiveness with Baird vendor and implementation of vendor technology investment.
- Partner and actively interact with their Manager, Technical Lead and Operations leadership as a productive and collaborative member of the Operations team.
- Support team as the subject matter expert on regulations and policies, understand end-to-end processes.
- Work with SQL and macros on a daily basis.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You'll Bring To Baird
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience delivering measurable business results, preferably across multiple functions within a diversified financial services firm or regulatory environment, with deep knowledge of client services policies and procedures.
- SIE and Series 7 licenses required or willingness to obtain within 120 days of hire.
- Strong tax information reporting expertise, including financial income reporting and IRS tax filings.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of data integrity best practices and data analysis (e.g., SQL).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, SharePoint).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and consistently deliver accurate, high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Broad understanding of operational procedures and processes, with strong planning skills and the ability to lead through indirect lines of management.
- Proven relationship builder with excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and communication skills, able to convey complex issues credibly to internal and external stakeholders.
