Our Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) team helps elevate SRE practices at Disney, promoting and onboarding new technologies, solving sophisticated problems and integrating with next generation digital platforms.
This Sr Systems Reliability Engineer will be responsible for helping create, build, and deliver amazing experiences to our guests, fans, and businesses. We are looking for someone with on premises hosting experience, and strong systems administration skills in Linux, Windows, Hypervisor, Storage, and Data Protection services - along with the appropriate knowledges in development, CI pipelines, and container computing.
What You Will Do

  • Translate ideas into tangible products through automation, resiliency, efficiency, stability, security, performance, and capacity management - to ensure high reliability
  • Design, build, and support systems for a large-scale enterprise production environment on the behalf of product teams
  • Act as a thought partner and collaborator with various engineering and production teams, as well as with leadership to drive forward Disney's goals
  • Participate in discovery, architecture, design, automation, and implementation of various projects
  • Documentation of infrastructure, run books, and other reference materials
  • Ensure applications are following security standard processes, and aren't unnecessarily complex
  • Project manage & plan large-scale engineering efforts as needed


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years experience within a System Reliability Engineering or related role
  • Expertise in multiple languages (Python, PowerShell, Go, Ruby, Dart, Node, Java, etc.)
  • Validated experience with automation platforms (Chef, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
  • Strong Linux & Windows platform knowledge
  • Expertise with Distributed Systems and Container Platforms (Kubernetes/GKE, ECS, Mesos, Fargate, Nomad, etc.)
  • Experience within networking and protocols (e.g. HTTP, TLS, SSH, DNS)
  • Proficient in web server technologies (e.g. Apache, Node.js, NginX, Tomcat, IIS, Caddy Server)
  • Proficient with data technologies (e.g. NoSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic)
  • Experience supporting converged infrastructure stacks
  • Holds systems administration experience with major operating system platforms
  • Experience working with public and private cloud hosting services
  • Holds Continuous Integration (CI) Pipeline knowledge (e.g. Jenkins, Gitlab CI)
  • Has experience administering Splunk of other large Enterprise solutions (Websphere, SAP, etc)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

  • Master's degree in a related field

The hiring range for this position in Burbank is $136,038 to $182,490 per year and in Seattle is $142,516 to $191,180 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
