ABOUT THE ROLE
As we are accelerating our growth with current deployment of a first BioPod factory and industrialization of products, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic engineering team in Paris. As a Sr Structural Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of inflatable structures of our BioPods and BioFarming solutions. This includes ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, with specific expertise in inflatable solutions, which include pneumatic structures, air-supported structures, and tensioned membrane structures. You will also collaborate closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts meeting our requirements and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop detailed designs for pneumatic structures, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and aesthetic requirements
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and specialized engineering tools to create detailed 3D models, and structural specification for assembly
- Perform structural analysis (FEA) and simulations (CFD) to verify the stability and integrity of inflatable structures under various conditions
- Collaborate with engineering team to ensure seamless project execution
- Ensure all designs and products comply with local, national, and international building codes and regulations
- Manage the entire lifecycle of pneumatic structure projects, from initial concept to completion
- Identify, supervise subcontractors and manufacturers to achieve the best possible product in terms of craftsmanship, cost, and engineering
- Conduct assembly line inspections and provide technical advice to ensure compliance with engineering standards
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, materials, and advancements in inflatable structure engineering
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and durability of inflatable structures
- Identify and address any structural issues or deficiencies during the assembly phase
PROFILE
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years professional experience in structural engineering in a production environment with a focus on inflatable structures
- Proven track record of successfully managing and completing inflatable structure projects
- Proven experience in DfMA 3D modeling on CAD platform/software
- Ability to generate FEA and CFD models of inflatable structures (SIMULIA)
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
- Fluency in French and English is required
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Polyvalent spirit and ability to switch from design to documentation and inspection phases
- Demonstrated experience designing built inflatable structures
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
