Overall Responsibility
The Senior Special Systems Designer provides advanced technical design and engineering production support for aviation, transportation, and infrastructure projects involving Telecom, Security, Passenger Systems, Information Technology, and other low-voltage systems.
Working closely with the Director of Special Systems Project Delivery, this position supports project execution by developing coordinated engineering designs, Revit models, construction documents, and technical deliverables while assisting with production planning and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and in accordance with Arora quality standards. The role combines technical design expertise, advanced Revit proficiency, engineering production experience, and project coordination to support successful delivery across the Special Systems Practice.
Essential Functions

Performs design of Special Systems including Telecom, Security, Information Technology, and other low-voltage systems.

Coordinates with architects, engineers, clients, and other disciplines to integrate Special Systems into overall project designs.

Supports Design Leads and Project Managers throughout planning, design, bidding, and construction administration.

Participates in project meetings, design reviews, field investigations, and client coordination.

Develops coordinated Revit models, construction documents, engineering drawings, layouts, schedules, and technical documentation using company-standard design platforms.

Develops and coordinates engineering design packages to support project schedules and delivery milestones.

Reviews production work for quality, coordination, completeness, and constructability prior to formal QA/QC reviews.

Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers in engineering production, Revit workflows, and documentation standards.

Assists with technical specifications, cost estimates, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and construction support.

Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of Special Systems design standards, documentation practices, and production workflows.
Needed Skills

Experience producing coordinated engineering construction documents for complex projects.

Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, or similar coordination tools preferred.

Aviation or transportation project experience preferred.
Education/Experience Minimum

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Information Technology, Construction Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

Minimum eight (8) years of progressive Special Systems design and Revit/CAD production experience.

Demonstrated high level of experience developing Revit-based construction documents for complex projects.

Aviation, transportation, or large infrastructure experience preferred.

RCDD, PSP, CTS, NICET, CCNA, Autodesk Certified Professional, PMP, or other applicable industry certifications are preferred but not required.
