Our purpose is advancing knowledge to improve lives. We succeed by being the premier provider of strategic learning and development, scientific advisory services, and medical communications solutions for the life sciences industry. Our global team is composed of nearly 1000 full-time employees whose commitment to creativity, quality, and on-time delivery is unrivaled in our space.

At Red Nucleus, we believe in providing a rich working environment that pushes us to innovate in ways that engages our employees to be their best selves. Our culture is about meaningful work, a true sense of community, and fun. We love to celebrate our people and we are proud to have been Internationally recognized as a “Great Place to Work".

How You Will Contribute

In this position, you will be working with our Digital Experience team within Global Medical Communications (GMC).

As a Senior Solutions Architect at Red Nucleus, you will serve as both a strategic technology leader and hands-on technical expert - driving architectural vision while actively participating in key technical decisions and implementations. You will transform complex client needs into digital strategies, establish architectural standards, and lead the development team in delivering high-quality digital products for healthcare and pharmaceutical clients. This role balances high-level solution design with practical technical leadership, maintaining deep expertise while building foundational practices that scale the practice.

  • Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy for Digital Experience projects, ensuring solutions align with business needs, client requirements, and established technical standards.
  • Design and lead the implementation of complex digital solutions including websites, web applications, interactive tools, data visualizations, and immersive experiences for healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Establish and maintain architectural principles, patterns, reference architectures, and technical standards that guide the development team and ensure consistency across the digital product portfolio.
  • Define and operationalize the team's AI-augmented development stack - selecting, configuring, and governing tools such as code-generation assistants (Copilot, Claude Code), automated testing agents, and AI-powered code review pipelines. Establish usage policies, prompt engineering standards, and quality gates that ensure AI-assisted output meets architectural and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead on complex client engagements, participating in discovery sessions, solution design, and technical presentations.
  • Lead and mentor senior developers and the broader development team, fostering technical excellence, code quality standards, and professional growth.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide architectural oversight for critical projects, ensuring quality and alignment with established patterns.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions, including AI tools, platforms, and frameworks, providing informed build vs. buy recommendations.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and technical prototypes for critical initiatives, validating approaches before committing to full implementation.
  • Own technical estimation and scoping for complex projects, developing frameworks that improve accuracy and support project planning and pricing.
  • Design integration strategies for CMS platforms, APIs, third-party services, and data sources, ensuring robust and maintainable architectures.
  • Collaborate with UX leadership to refine and optimize the collaborating dev/UX team delivery model, ensuring technical and design workflows are aligned.
  • Contribute to productization efforts by defining technical architectures, platform decisions, and component strategies that support scalable, repeatable product delivery.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architectural artifacts, and knowledge-sharing resources that build institutional technical knowledge.
  • Support AI-assisted development practices across the team, evaluating tools and establishing best practices for AI integration in development workflows.

About You

  • 8+ years of experience in software development and architecture, with demonstrated progression from hands-on development to technical leadership.
  • 3+ years in technical leadership or architecture roles, with experience guiding teams and shaping technical direction.
  • Strong background in designing and implementing complex technical solutions for web applications, interactive digital experiences, and/or immersive platforms.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, cloud platforms, and distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in multiple technology stacks and development frameworks, with the ability to select the right tools for each engagement.
  • Experience with modern development practices including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.
  • Proficiency in API design and integration patterns (REST, GraphQL), CMS platforms, and frontend/backend architectures.
  • Demonstrated success in client-facing technical roles - discovery leadership, solution design, and technical presentations.
  • Experience in design retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, conversational interfaces, and intelligent content systems for pharma/healthcare use cases. Own decisions around model selection, orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChainLlamaIndex, custom), vector stores, guardrails, and responsible AI considerations specific to regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting internal AI tooling that accelerates delivery - automated content tagging, intelligent QA workflows, document processing pipelines, or knowledge retrieval systems (Azure Foundry experience is a bonus)
  • Experience in proof-of-concept development for AI initiatives, including rapid prototyping with LLM APIs, fine-tuning evaluation, and cost/performance benchmarking to validate feasibility before committing to production builds.
  • Strong project planning and estimation capabilities, with the ability to scope complex technical work accurately.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business, executive, and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with architectural documentation tools and methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required. Technical certifications in relevant areas are valuable but not mandatory.
  • Pharma, healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in agency, consultancy, or professional services environments strongly preferred.

You’re Energized By

  • Transforming complex client needs into elegant technical solutions that balance pragmatism with architectural integrity.
  • Staying hands-on where it matters - diving into code, building prototypes, and making critical technical decisions - while leading at a strategic level.
  • Mentoring developers and building a technical culture where the team continuously raises the bar.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and finding practical applications that advance what the team can deliver.
  • Making complex healthcare and scientific digital products architecturally sound, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Partnering with UX to ensure that technical architecture serves the user experience, not the other way around.

The expected compensation range for this role is $123,000 to $152,000 CAN. Compensation will be determined based on an applicant’s skills, competencies, experience, and qualifications.
