Mission and Goals

To hire a Backend Developer Python (Platform & Cloud Services)

You’ll join CTO Platforms, a small but high-impact team of backend engineers at the core of Gen. Our services support malware analysts, security researchers, and other technical experts across brands like Norton, AVG, and Avast. We focus on high-scale data ingestion, internal platform development, and critical API design.

Our mission is to deliver reliable, scalable backend services that directly support Gen’s antivirus and threat intelligence platforms. We process millions of malware samples per day, manage large-scale metadata systems, and enable smarter detection and response through high-quality internal tools and services.

Objectives

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python backend services
• Build internal libraries and frameworks that are adopted across teams
• Support malware ingestion and storage pipelines using GCP services
• Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes with strong monitoring and reliability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared coding standards
• Join the on-call rotation once you’re up to speed

Competencies

• Strong backend development skills (Python 3 preferred)
• Knowledge of scalable architecture and clean code principles
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, CI/CD tools, and Infrastructure as Code
• Exposure to cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to share knowledge
• Prior experience in a DevOps environment with production ownership
• Understanding of data pipeline tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, BigQuery
• Contributions to internal developer experience (e.g., tooling, documentation)
• Interest in security or malware detection is a plus
