What we're looking for:

As our Sr. Software Engineer, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of on-site and remote software engineers to transform our Product roadmap into impactful solutions. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and scaling our consumer-facing web applications and mobile apps. You will be a key contributor to our mission of providing career-aligned, debt-free education to learners.

  • Full stack development: Robust expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your front-end skills while maintaining full-stack responsibilities, utilizing tools and technologies across the entire stack.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including product, user experience, and project management, to deliver cohesive and integrated solutions.
  • SaaS solutions: Demonstrated success in delivering SaaS solutions for large enterprise customers, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Cloud and open-source technologies: Proficiency in leveraging a variety of open-source technologies and cloud services to enhance platform capabilities.

Who you are:

  • You have over 5 years of experience in software engineering, delivering high-traffic, global web applications and mobile apps.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience leading or mentoring other developers, showcasing your ability to guide teams towards achieving technical excellence.
  • With experience in Agile methodologies, you have proven success in cross-functional team environments. You are an excellent communicator, deliver projects on time, demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence, and thrive when working with large, diverse teams. Experience with product, user experience, and project management teams is a plus.
  • You have experience with data modeling and system design.
  • You have experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, and SQL.
  • You bring expertise in delivering SaaS solutions for large enterprise customers, meeting the demands of high-scale, performance-critical environments.
  • You have a deep understanding of open-source technologies and cloud services, enhancing the scalability, reliability, and innovation of platforms.
  • You are passionate about helping our customers enable economic mobility for their employees; establishing equitable access to education for or partners’ employees

How you will create impact:

  • Work as part of an agile team to develop new features and functionality.
  • Ensure use of engineering best practices for development, security, accessibility, compliance, performance, HADR, etc.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for a team of engineers, lead and mentor cross-functional team of engineers (fullstack) to build, deliver and sustain a world class learning services platform
  • Mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively to develop and build upon the skills of all team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality, elegant solutions.
  • Constantly apply best practices and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
  • Design and develop automated tests.
  • Follow and execute the full software development lifecycle.
  • Protect operations by keeping information and data confidential.

Target base compensation amount for this role outlined below. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts shown below.

$153,000$165,000 USD
