The Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Python, AWS, and CI/CD practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, cloud computing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment methodologies. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions that power our products and services. This is a hybrid position based out of South San Francisco, CA. For the right person, we may consider a remote location. If this candidate sits in South San Francisco, the expectation is to work 2-3 days onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Python.
- Architect and lead the implementation of cloud-based applications and services on AWS.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless integration and deployment of code.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and bugs.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and code reviews.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain current and competitive.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software development.
- Proven experience delivering solutions making use of AWS.
- Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Proficiency in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including design patterns, coding standards, and code reviews.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with web development technologies such as Node.js, React, Vue.js, or similar.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, or similar.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead engineering role.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

$140,000—$160,000 USD
