Our Video Sharing Platforms team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work with our highly skilled IT professionals to solve complex business and big data related challenges.
What you'll be doing:
- Identify, assess, and solve complex business problems for area of responsibility, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Successfully lead complex integration and data solutions with broad scope and long-term business implications. Create solutions with high level of innovation, cost effectiveness, high quality, and faster time to market.
- Working with project teams to address data and computing challenges.
- Identifying opportunities for technology to enhance service offerings.
- Acting as an expert in large data manipulation and transformation.
- Optimizing & managing large databases.
What you'll need to be successful:
Must haves:
- Experience writing PHP
- Experience writing automated unit and functional tests
- Experience with relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases
- Experience in achieving high-throughput and high-performance computing (an asset)
- Strong proficiency in a UNIX/Linux environment
- Proven skills in server side resource profiling, optimization and debugging
- Ability to work on large projects and take initiative;
- A readiness to deal with uncertainty and frequent project pivots;
- A “getting things done” mindset
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
