About Countable Labs

At Countable Labs (formerly Enumerix), we are redefining what modern genomics can be. Our Countable PCR platform delivers highly accurate, multiplexed quantification with the simplicity of qPCR and at a cost that makes advanced genomics broadly accessible.

In 2025, Countable PCR was recognized with both Analytical Scientist and Scientist Innovation awards, validating the platform’s scientific impact and real-world value. Backed by top-tier life sciences venture capital firms, we are building a category-defining technology that enables next-level genomics for clinical and research applications.

We are a fast-growing, mission-driven startup where ownership is real, innovation is expected, and product leaders have the opportunity to shape the future of an entire platform. If you want to take charge of a portfolio, guide world-class science into the market, and see your decisions translate directly into customer impact, this is the role for you.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Applications to contribute to the expansion, validation, and real-world success of applications on the Countable PCR platform.

This role sits at the intersection of R&D, product, and customers, and is critical to translating platform capability into scalable, validated use cases that drive adoption and revenue.

You will contribute to the development of new application areas of Countable PCR (e.g. in the areas of CGT, wastewater monitoring, gene expression applications), own projects to establish robust assay and workflow standards, and serve as a key technical leader supporting both internal teams and external customers. Additionally, you will be presenting data stories in webinars and conferences, and driving scientific collaborations with KOLs to drive adoption of the Countable technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expand application areas.  Develop and validate new use cases on the Countable PCR platform to enable adoption across emerging and high-impact applications.
  • Advance assay development and workflows. Design and optimize assays and establish robust workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality performance across sample types.
  • Improve customer success and adoption. Support technical troubleshooting and help drive reliable outcomes in real-world customer environments.
  • Enable scientific collaborations and data generation. Contribute to external partnerships, datasets, and scientific outputs that demonstrate platform capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional execution. Partner with R&D, product, and commercial teams to translate applications into scalable offerings.
QualificationsRequired
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in assay development (qPCR, dPCR, or related technologies)
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Multiplex PCR assay design and optimization for qPCR and dPCR
  • Nucleic acid workflows and sample preparation
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex experimental and workflow challenges
  • Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced environments
  • Track record of publications, posters, or external scientific engagement
  • Experience supporting customers or working in applications/field roles
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Versatile at the bench, with superb attention to details
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical findings to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with demonstrated ability to drive projects from concept through execution and completion while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferably, direct assay development experience with at least one of the following areas:
    • Epigenetics (e.g., methylation assays)
    • Small RNA / miRNA workflows
    • Clinical or translational genomics applications
    • Environmental or wastewater testing
    • Cell and gene therapy

Skills Required

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, or related field

What We Do

In an era of ever-increasing cost and skills required to do complex diagnostics tests, Countable Labs (formerly Enumerix) is developing a next-generation genomics platform to make high resolution biology simple, fast, and affordable. Our goal is to reduce the cost of high resolution tests by at least 10 times to enable access to a broader patient population. We believe our team is poised to accomplish this. We are a group of seasoned biotech and innovative entrepreneurs, engineers, and scientists with a proven track record of advancing the field of genomics from innovation to commercial success. We have pioneered DNA microarrays, non-invasive prenatal screening using next generation sequencing (NGS), and high-throughput single-cell NGS, and together the founding team holds over 60 granted patents.
