The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for this position will primarily be responsible for global product regulatory compliance, hazard communication, product safety & risk mitigation and life cycle management activities for the Electrical Markets Division (EMD).
As a Sr. Regulatory Affairs Associate, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Developing and executing technical activities leading to regulatory compliance, effective assessment of safety and risk to human health and the environment, liability avoidance, and life cycle management concerning existing and new products, applications and technologies having significant importance to Electrical Markets Division (EMD).
- Providing timely direction and guidance to the business and its customers regarding regulatory compliance and safety processes and declarations, claims, change management and new and emerging regulations, industry standards and trends.
- Creating, managing and maintaining documents including Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), labels, safety leaflets, regulatory compliance plans for new and existing internal materials and commercial products.
- Assisting 3M global internal and external customers with their product EHS&R inquiries including regulated lists, RoHS/WEEE, REACH/SVHC, global inventories, local, state, federal and global regulations.
- Developing strong professional relationships with technical managers and R&D personnel focused on 3M EMD's product portfolios.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Completed two semesters or more post-secondary courses in chemistry
- One (1) year or more of experience in a regulated industry
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Technical or related degree from an accredited institution
- Three years or more of combined experience in product EHS Regulatory Compliance or Product Safety and/or Product Stewardship experience within a private, public, government or military environment.
- Expertise in hardgoods safety standards
- Experience with Global PLM (ENOVIA)
- Project management experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and influencing skills
- Ability to work well in diverse teams
Location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week in Maplewood, MN or Austin, TX.
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic or international
