Job Purpose and Scope:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for overall quality engineering of assigned products (Tile, or GRID & Metal Ceilings) sold by RW-RFNA and/or Suppliers to maximize customer satisfaction. He or she will also own Customer Complaints Management process for RW-RFNA Opco. Sr. Quality Engineer will champion continuous improvement through use of advanced quality tools, LEAN/ROPEX and other industry leading best practices as appropriate to improve quality of RW-RFNA products and services. This position is based in Chicago but would require travel (at least 25%) within USA and some international.
Key Responsibilities and Job Content:
Own and manage Claims and Complaints Management System (customer facing and suppliers) and work with various departments to drive root cause and corrective actions to reduce claims
Proficient in the use of Quality tools such as 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, quality planning / APQP, FMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC, Tier boards etc.
Use LEAN/ROPEX industry leading best practices to solve quality problems and implement effective corrective actions
Setup and drive improvement in all key KPIs related to supplier quality
Manage and drive supplier meetings and quarterly business reviews and assure closure of actions
Assist Quality Manager to upgrade inspections methods, gage calibrations and data analysis
Assist Quality Manager to setup and drive improvement in all key KPIs related to product quality and customer satisfaction
Lead activities to maintain compliance requirements by agencies such as ICC-ES, UL, InterTek etc. Establish routine internal quality audits as appropriate
Liaise with Operations, Engineering and Quality colleagues from other ROCKWOOL OPCOs and producing factories to identify and establish best practices within Rockfon, N.A.
Communication of relevant information to the relevant parties and stakeholders
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering and/or Operations Management preferred
5+ years’ experience in quality engineering for engineered products in high volume high mix manufacturing industry, preferably in Building Materials or Automotive industries
Proven track record of driving quality and continuous improvement in product and service related KPIs using advanced quality tools, LEAN/OPEX, Six Sigma and other industry leading best practices as appropriate
Experience dealing with regulatory and testing agencies like UL, ICC-ES, Inter-Tek etc. is highly preferred
Experience with customer quality documentation
Experience with customer compliance audits and internal QMS audits
Experience problem solving complex manufacturing and product issues
