Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Quality Engineer to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA as part of the Data Power & Control Division of Legrand.
The Senior Quality Engineer will plan and direct activities associated with the development, application,
and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, products, and external suppliers. The
incumbent will develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
Main Job Duties:
• Support QA Manager
• Conduct weekly quality control meetings with technical specialists and provide follow-up.
• Provide tactical quality control data for management reviews.
• Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
• Recommend revisions of specifications and procedures when needed.
• Interface with all other engineering components within the organization and with suppliers on quality related issues.
• Support continuous improvement activities that enhance internal quality systems and processes
• Implement proactive quality processes, procedures, assembly processes and poka yokes that improve overall customer quality
• Support Quality Control CAPA Database including timely and accurate completion and follow-up of outstanding quality concerns
• Work with external suppliers to improve incoming quality
• Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system
• Support Engineering and Operations departments to ensure transfer to production of new products is in accordance with approved data
• Develop training modules to build quality awareness throughout the production facility
• Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions
• Support Quality Control to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system
• Responsible for planning and organizing quality for WIP and Finished Goods material moving through production
• Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions
• Support the preparation of QA reports.
Education:
• Electrical Engineering Degree required or related experience
• Four plus years of prior quality control experience with proven implementation of quality systems and tools
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing operation required
• Strong computer skills including experience using database and spreadsheet programs
• Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
• Flexibility for minimal travel in North America (approximately 10-20%)
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Knowledge of quality principles including 5S, Kaizen Lean Methods
• Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• Complex Problem-Solving skills – identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate option and implement solutions
• Judgment and Decision-Making skills – considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
• Critical Thinking skills – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills – ability to communication information and ideas verbally and in writing so others will understand
• Able to manage multiple projects
• Able to meet agreed upon completion dates
• Able to motivate team members within a cross functional team
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
• The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
