POSITION SUMMMARY:
The Senior QA/QC Engineer ensures quality standards, contractual compliance and regulatory adherence by developing and implementing quality management plans, conducting inspections and audits, reviewing documentation, managing non-conformances and coordinating with stakeholders to uphold quality on site. The successful candidate performs inspections, documents non-conformances and verify that all mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations comply with project requirements and industry standards. Responsibilities include overseeing QA/QC activities, ensuring proper use of materials and methods, maintaining quality records, fostering a quality conscious environment and managing risks that could impact project quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and approve technical specifications, submittals, drawings, and material data sheets to ensure compliance.
- Conduct detailed inspections of materials and installations, focusing on mechanical and electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems and HVAC equipment.
- Identify, document and drive the closure of non-conformances through corrective and preventative actions, authoring and reviewing root cause analysis when needed.
- Ensure that all construction activities, equipment and installations comply with project documentation, applicable codes, industry standards and client requirements.
- Provide daily quality summaries and detailed weekly reports on project quality performance to the QA/QC manager and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with general contractors, trade partners, consultants and clients to coordinate inspections, reviews and quality sign offs.
- Lead and participate in weekly quality control meetings and other team meetings with project stakeholders.
- Ensure proper documentation of quality records, including inspection logs, testing reports and turnover packages.
- Train and guide site personnel on quality standards, procedures and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in FATs and FWTs.
- Participate in the internal and external site audits.
- Participate in all levels of commissioning and turnover
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced technical knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical systems.
- Understanding of electrical UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to communicate effectively with Owner, contractor and internal staff.
- Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.
- Ability to operate in and promote a process-driven team environment.
- Ability to logically analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in QA/QC managing construction projects/operations including 3 years Data Center quality and commissioning experience.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, complex equipment systems (electrical, mechanical) and industry standards.
- Familiarity with quality management and commissioning software like Cx Alloy, Helix, Procore or similar.
- Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills to interact effectively with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to identifying and driving solutions to ensure quality and compliance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs.
- Use of sight, hearing and voice are required as well as motor skills.
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
- Ability to transition through construction projects at every phase safely
Work Conditions
- This position is expected to be full-time, on site, in field.
- Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
- Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation.
- Travel up to 10%, to ensure quality, commission and deliver the project as clients turn over dates require.
Special Requirements
- Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment shifting priorities.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
- Must be available by cell phone after hours or for emergency situations.
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience managing construction projects or operations
- At least 3 years of data center quality and commissioning experience
- Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems
- Experience with data center operations and maintenance

- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and provide on-call emergency support
