The Sr. Project Manager – McKesson Transformation Office (MTO) will serve as the operational backbone of the McKesson Transformation Office (MTO), responsible for implementing and managing the tools, processes, and governance routines that enable effective execution of the MMS separation and “RemainCo” (i.e., McKesson) transformation initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring transparency, consistency, and accountability across a portfolio of high-impact programs, including the separation of McKesson’s Medical-Surgical business and the transformation of RemainCo.

This is a key role for the McKesson Transformation Office (MTO) that requires significant experience in program and project management and who can operate independently and efficiently, engage cross-functional stakeholders, and drive results. The Sr. Project Manager will assist and partner with the Transformation Office PMO Lead to track the overall program and proactively identify and address potential risks / issues for the separation & transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities (List the top five to seven essential responsibilities in priority order.) 

1. Separation Workstream Planning & Execution – Management of the foundational project plans and processes to advance the Medical-Surgical separation forward. Maintain a consolidated repository to track and resolve risks / issues, action items, interdependencies, and decisions (RAID).  Ensure alignment with enterprise-wide project management standards where applicable - 30%

2. Tooling & Infrastructure – Configure and maintain the tools and platforms used to manage the transformation portfolio (e.g., Smartsheet, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). Ensure tools are user-friendly, scalable, and support real-time visibility into program status, risks, and dependencies.  Engage in agile and flexible ways of working with project stakeholders and workstreams that is not overly burdensome with administration and process - 20%

3. Program Tracking & Reporting – Establish and maintain dashboards, trackers, and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress across all transformation workstreams. Align stakeholders at all levels to progress them through successful implementation of workplans. Provide timely and accurate updates to the Transformation Office PMO Lead for reporting to senior stakeholders, including the SVP, CFO, EOT, MMS ELT, and NewCo Board; as well as “downward” to the workstream leads, working teams, and any external partners, as needed - 25%

4. Workstream Governance & Risk Management – Facilitate governance routines such as MTO/ATV meetings, Project Management meetings, workstream meetings, and risk reviews. Ensure that risks, issues, and decisions are documented, escalated, and resolved in a timely manner - 15%

5. Continuous Improvement & Enablement – Proactively solicit and incorporate stakeholder feedback to evolve and improve tools, processes, deliverables, etc. Identify opportunities to continually improve PMO and workstream processes and tools and document best practices. Provide guidance and training to workstream leads and other project managers to ensure consistent application of PMO standards and practices. - 10%

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Education/Training – Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred; Project Management Professional certification (PMP) preferred.

Business Experience –

  • 7+ years of experience in program/project management, with at least 3+ years in a PMO or portfolio management role, ideally within McKesson. Experience supporting large-scale transformation, M&A, or separation programs in a matrixed enterprise is a significant plus and as if not more desirable than years of experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills –

  • Recognized expertise in project and portfolio management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in with key stakeholders to project management processes.
  • Comfort operating independently and proactively identifying areas for improvement.

Working Conditions:

Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) –

Traditional office environment with remote working flexibility. Some travel required for executive engagements, workshops, and other program activities as needed.

Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) –

  • Large percent of time performing computer based work is required.  Occasional travel and extended ;hours during critical program phases.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$107,200 - $178,600
