The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks both independently and with ongoing supervision. The Sr. Project Engineer receives technical guidance, as needed, on new design topics that have not been experienced previously. The Sr. Project Engineer will also oversee the development of projects and assists the Project Manager with work. Leads other engineers on engineering assignments to develop required project deliverables consistent with project goals
What you'll do :
• Leads small, medium, large, or multi-discipline complex projects and directs the activities of Design & Drafting
• Lead, support, train, and develop other engineers to fulfill project requirements
• Overall discipline lead of project in knowledge area
• Provides oversight in the preparation of similar projects for a given client on an as needed basis
• Communicates challenges regarding scope, quality, schedule and cost directly to the Project Manager on an ongoing basis
• Interacts independently with clients, estimates proposals, and understands the role of business development in operations goals
• Coordinates with the Design Coordinator to evaluate design personnel and assign design related tasks to Designers and Drafters
• Reviews and provides feedback on vendor drawings related to their projects and incorporates into design package
• Performs engineering reviews of projects prepared by others
• Provides input to Project Managers and leadership concerning potential process and design improvements
• Ensures that the quality control process is followed, including documentation utilizing the QRT for engineering, formatting, and independent reviews
• Assists in proposal development, including estimating project budgets, and engaging Design Coordinators and other SMEs as appropriate
• Assists Project Manager in ensuring tasks are started and completed on time and within budget, and in forecasting fee revenue
• Self-checks work assignments prior to submitting for review, completes work with minimal errors. Participates in peer reviews and QC reviews.
• Performs all other related duties, including fielding, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience in consulting or related field
• PE license or ability to obtain is a plus
