The Role

Role Summary:

 

Picarro is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Manager to lead the development and implementation of our fenceline monitoring solution for measuring emissions of Hazardous Organic NESHAP (HON) gases from chemical plants in compliance with EPA regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, environmental science, and regulatory compliance.

design, and product development. You will:

 

  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape. Identify opportunities for product enhancements and new features.
  • Define and execute the product roadmap for the fenceline monitoring solution, ensuring alignment with EPA's HON regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and marketing, to drive product development and launch.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that drive product innovation and market growth.
  • Have exceptional cross-functional collaboration and product development skills with proven ability to work effectively with engineering, design, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products
  • Have extensive experience in managing the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept to market launch
  • Be proficient in using product development tools for hardware and software systems like Jira and Confluence.

 

Requirement Documentation:

  1. Translate and consolidate market research and stakeholder inputs into detailed platform and product requirements and engineering requirements.
  2. Ensure that these requirements are communicated to the engineering team.
  3. Work with a team of systems engineers, mechanical and electrical design engineers, analytics and software development, and QA to establish system specifications and monitor solution performance targets that will be delivered.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

 

Ensure the product meets all relevant EPA standards and guidelines for emissions monitoring. Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations and assess their impact on the product.

Customer Engagement: Work closely with customers to gather feedback and ensure the product meets their requirements. Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement product performance and customer satisfaction metrics. Prepare and present reports on product status and performance to stakeholders.

Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the product meets market needs and is delivered on time and within budget.

Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Provide regular updates on product development progress and gather feedback to refine product features.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the product development process and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful product delivery.

Technical Leadership: Experience in providing technical guidance and oversight to engineering teams. Familiarity with analytical instruments, industrial monitoring, mechanical design, firmware, and software platform development.

 

Must-have qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related technical field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in product management, preferably in environmental monitoring or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of EPA regulations, particularly those related to HON gases and fence line monitoring.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing cross-functional engineering teams in developing complex hardware and software systems to enable data-driven solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong background in system architecture with a detailed understanding of interfaces, data flow, and efficient integration of several components and subsystems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with compliance and safety-critical device development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.

 

Nice-to-have qualifications:

 

  • Experience in chemical metrology, industrial monitoring, or related domains.
  • Experience in managing globally distributed teams and working in a multinational environment.

Salary Range & Benefits:

 

The base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000- $220,000 USD annually. Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge, level, and pay of employees in similar positions.
