We are hiring a Senior Product Manager, Banking to help lead the execution of Avant’s banking products. This role requires prior, hands-on experience launching or operating a digital banking product at a fintech or bank/fintech partnership. This is a strict requirement.
You will own major banking workstreams end-to-end, working closely with Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Finance, Operations, and external partners (sponsor bank, core processor, networks, vendors). This is not a feature PM role. It is a systems, execution, and ownership role.
What you’ll do at Avant:
Own Core Banking Workstreams
Own and drive major banking domains such as:
Account opening and onboarding (KYC, CIAM, eligibility)
Money movement (ACH, transfers, funding, limits)
Debit card programs (issuance, network certification, lifecycle)
Savings and interest mechanics
ATM access and cash deposits
Fraud, disputes, and Reg E–driven workflows
Translate regulatory, bank, and operational requirements into clear product and execution plans
Drive End-to-End Execution
Define scope, milestones, dependencies, and success criteria for owned workstreams
Proactively identify risks, gaps, and decision points before they become blockers
Drive work forward independently without waiting for direction
Coordinate across Engineering, Risk, Legal/Compliance, Fraud, Finance, Ops, and CX
Own outcomes, not just artifacts or coordination
Partner with Banks and Vendors
Work directly with sponsor bank partners and core processors
Support diligence, audits, and ongoing operating procedures
Help define and maintain bank operating models, escalation paths, and approval flow
Manage third-party vendors (e.g., KYC, fraud, bill pay, ACH, ATM networks)
Ensure Operational and Regulatory Readiness
Help define and document policies and procedures (money movement, fraud, disputes, account lifecycle)
Ensure Reg E, BSA/AML, and consumer protection considerations are reflected in product design
Partner with Operations and Support to ensure the product can be run at scale
Contribute to Platform & Membership Strategy
Collaborate on how banking products integrate with Avant’s broader platform (loans, cards, membership tiers)
Understand and incorporate unit economics, pricing, and behavioral incentives
Balance customer experience, risk, and economics in decision-making
Why you’re at fit at Avant:
7+ years of product management experience
Direct experience launching and/or operating a digital banking product
(checking, savings, debit, money movement, or similar)
Experience at a fintech or bank–fintech partnership is required
Hands-on experience working with:
Sponsor banks
Core banking platforms or processors
Card networks (Visa/Mastercard)
ACH and money movement systems
Proven track record of end-to-end ownership on complex, cross-functional initiatives

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.
Compensation Range:
The base salary range for this job is USD $140,000 - USD $180,000/ Year
Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.

Avantees work from our office Mon/Tues/Thurs. We hold the majority of our meetings & all-company events (Town Hall, Demo Day) on those days so that we can maximize our in-office time together. On Weds/Fri, many Avantees choose to work from home.
