We are seeking an exceptional Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving the technical vision and execution of our NOMAD mission. As a key leader, you will provide technical leadership to a team of 250+ engineers, champion cloud-native architectures, and ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and efficient solutions in the observability space. This role requires the candidate to actively participate in coding, design, code reviews, solving problems, and fostering a culture of simplicity and innovation. In this role, you will be a member of the Network Software team at Comcast. As part of this team, you will develop and own mission-critical software systems that control Petabit/s data traveling through Comcast network - one of the largest in the world. As a Software Engineer within SDN, you will be pushing the boundary of massive scale via bringing intelligent algorithms and solutions to enable ever-growing network

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

• Develop advanced traffic engineering methods to control and optimize high-scale traffic and operation load for Comcast’s Backbone network.
• Enhance distributed system performance and observability to ensure effective and dependable network control and operations.
• Develop intelligent scheduling algorithms and software solutions to optimize operational throughput while maintaining network reliability.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve functional, performance, and stability issues throughout the stack.

Cloud-Native Architecture:

• Design and implement cloud-native, scalable, and resilient architectures.
• Advocate and implement best practices for containerization, microservices, and serverless computing.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure robust CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.

Problem Solving:

• Identify and resolve organizational and technical challenges to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
• Simplify complex processes and systems, ensuring they are efficient and maintainable.
• Promote a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Partner with product management and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Communicate technical concepts and decisions effectively across diverse audiences.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure cohesive and effective collaboration.

Quality and Innovation:

• Champion quality assurance and testing strategies to deliver reliable and high-performing tools.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating them into the organization’s roadmap as appropriate.
• Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging teams to explore new ideas and approaches.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring large engineering teams (250+ members).
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud-native architecture and modern development practices.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in SDN concepts and experience with its implimentation
• Proficient in designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, etc.).
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tools and frameworks (e.g., VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, Grafana, Streaming Telemetry).
• Basic understanding of LLMs and Analytics of big data

• Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and simplicity.
• Strong ability to influence and inspire teams towards technical and organizational excellence

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
