We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Expert with 4-6 years of experience in Microsoft Business Intelligence (MSBI) technologies, including a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server (preferably 2012 or later, with SQL Server 2016 being a plus) and demonstrate proficiency in creating advanced calculations, visualizations, and reports using Power BI and Azure Data Factory. This role demands strong data visualization skills, an understanding of data partitioning and performance optimization in data warehousing, and the ability to collaborate effectively in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and create diverse visualizations in Power BI using tools such as Slicers, Line Charts, Pie Charts, Histograms, Maps, Scatter Plots, Bullets, Heat Maps, Tree Maps, and more.
- Develop complex calculated measures and columns using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) in Power BI Desktop.
- Perform data visualization and develop interactive Power BI applications to support business decisions.
- Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service (app.powerbi.com), configuring connection details and scheduling data refreshes.
- Write efficient SQL and T-SQL scripts within SQL Server environments to support data management and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the development of insightful, high-impact visualizations.
- Utilize Power BI’s Data Gateway for secure and effective data refreshing and integration with external data sources.
- Create dashboards, operational reports, and presentations that transform complex data into actionable insights.
- Maintain and enhance content packs in the Power BI Library.
- Understand and apply data partitioning techniques and data warehousing performance optimization.
- Collaborate within an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
Requirements:
- Proficient in data visualization and application development using Microsoft Power BI.
- Expertise in creating calculated measures and columns using DAX in Power BI Desktop.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL Server (2012 and newer, with 2016 being a plus).
- Strong experience in publishing Power BI reports and managing data connections and refresh schedules.
- Proficient in using Data Gateway for seamless data refreshing and integrating Power BI with external data sources.
- Familiarity with integrating SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) into Power BI is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create dashboards, reports, presentations, and visual summaries for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and a solid understanding of data partitioning and performance optimization in data warehousing is desirable.
