Job Description:
Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Oracle Database Administrator with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Columbia, Maryland. This position supports a high-availability mission environment where you'll administer and optimize enterprise Oracle database environments supporting critical national security missions.
In this role, you will administer and support Oracle 19c databases, manage Data Guard environments, perform database patching and lifecycle management, and ensure the availability, security, and performance of mission-critical database services. You'll leverage Oracle best practices to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing database solutions while collaborating with engineering teams in a secure production environment.
As a Sr. Oracle Database Administrator, you'll have the opportunity to solve complex database challenges, support innovative Oracle technologies, and contribute to critical national security missions while working alongside experienced engineering professionals.
Work Schedule:
- Shift Options: Monday - Friday (Evening Shift), Monday - Friday (Night Shift), or 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday (Day or Night).
- Availability: Must be available for after-hours and on-call support if needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer and support Oracle 19c databases in a Data Guard configuration consisting of one primary and multiple standby databases.
- Manage and maintain Oracle Data Guard environments using Data Guard Broker.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Fast-Start Failover (FSFO), including multi-site observer configurations.
- Perform routine and emergency Oracle patching (RU/CPU), including planning, testing, implementation, and post-patch validation.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Execute and validate database switchover and failover operations, including primary database reinstatement.
- Troubleshoot Oracle Data Guard issues, including transport lag, apply lag, archive gaps, and broker-related errors.
- Administer RMAN backup and recovery processes, including Fast Recovery Area (FRA) and Flashback Database capabilities.
- Support Oracle database performance monitoring and tuning using AWR and ASH.
- Perform database design, migration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to develop and implement reliable database solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database configurations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
- Security+ CE certification required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Ten (10) or more years of Oracle database administration experience supporting large-scale or enterprise database environments.
- Extensive experience administering and engineering Oracle Database environments.
- Extensive experience with Oracle database design, data modeling, and database migration.
- Experience gathering and interpreting customer requirements related to database administration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Significant experience deploying and supporting Oracle RAC environments.
- Significant experience with RMAN backup and recovery.
- Strong hands-on experience administering Oracle 19c databases on Linux (non-RAC).
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Data Guard Broker, and Fast-Start Failover (FSFO).
- Experience supporting multi-standby Data Guard environments.
- Experience performing Oracle database patching and lifecycle management.
- Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (OEM) for monitoring and performance analysis.
- Experience with Oracle database security technologies, including Database Vault, Label Security, and Data Guard.
- Experience with Flashback Database, Fast Recovery Area (FRA), and database recovery operations.
- Proficiency with Linux administration and shell scripting.
- Experience with database performance analysis and tuning using AWR and ASH.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a high-availability operational environment.
Desired Skills:
- Currently holds or has recently held SYS3 PRIVAC level.

Skills Required

- 10+ years Oracle database administration experience supporting large-scale/enterprise databases
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c on Linux (non-RAC) and production Data Guard configurations (1 primary, multiple standbys)
- Proven expertise with Data Guard Broker and Fast-Start Failover (FSFO) in multi-standby, multi-site observer environments
- Experience performing routine and emergency Oracle patching (RU/CPU) including planning, testing, and validation
- Experience with RMAN backup/recovery, Flashback Database, and managing Flash Recovery Area (FRA)
- Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) / OEM Cloud Control for monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting (Bash)
- Significant experience with production deployment and administration of RAC
- Experience with DB security features (DB Vault, label security) and data migration
- Familiarity with performance tuning tools and methodologies (AWR/ASH)
- Security+ CE certification required
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently with strong communication skills
- Availability for evening/night shifts, 12-hour weekend shifts, and after-hours/on-call support
- Currently holds or recently held SYS3 PRIVAC level
