Responsibilities

Sr Mech Design Eng Manager-Component Design and Analysis-Engines & Power Systems

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Leads the turbine aerodynamics and mechanical design at system and component level internal to Honeywell aerospace (through coordination with peer managers within E&PS), with suppliers, and with customers including aircraft OEMs.
  • Responsible for defining and executing turbine aerodynamic and mechanical analyses initiatives to achieve overall product objectives within budget and schedule constraints and in compliance with requirements.
  • Leads the team to define scope and extent of turbomachinery analyses and enables execution to achieve program objectives.
  • Leads the team to define the specifications, ensure the manufacturability of the parts, collaborates with extended team to ensure supplier readiness and early engagements.
  • Manages turbine aerodynamics and mechanical analyses team to deliver upon challenging technical, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Responsible for maturing GSF areas in Turbines with focused action plan and periodic reviews with leadership, strong collaboration with external eco system.
  • Establishes and executes a staffing and employee development strategy, including succession planning, staffing, census management, training, skill development and university relationships/hiring to accomplish program and functional goals.
  • TRR/MRR/GSF planning and execution.
  • Responsible for relationships with broader organization, customers, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and E&PS leadership.
  • Mentors and trains the team to achieve all program objectives utilizing demonstrated experience in the design, and development of complex mechanical systems and components.
  • Continually reviews engineering projects, and the adequacy of plans, incentives and controls. Reports performance and results on a regular basis to the engineering director and internal leadership.
  • Approves technical content, technical commitments, deliverable, and associated cost and schedule for all activities (internal or external).
  • Responsible for technical decision making, including, without limitation, coordinating technical requirements with relevant stakeholders, customers, and advising leadership and customers on all technical aspects and issues to achieve all technical requirements.
  • Coordinates with peer managers and program PEs to ensure overall program success.
  • Partnering with program management, develops and implements a Management Operating System to drive effective communication, interfacing, and execution of tasks & responsibilities across the cross-functional organization.
  • Sponsors and leads transformational projects to execute work differently to achieve program acceleration goals.
  • Creates an environment where individual and team accomplishments are valued and rewarded. Intellectually challenges using innovation and creativity.  
  • Travel within India and/ or internationally may be required

 

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in mechanical / aerospace engineering with 15+ years of relevant engineering experience in turbomachinery design and analyses 
  • Experience in Turbines aerodynamics and mechanical analyses/ simulations using tools like Fluent, StarCCM, Ansys WB and Optislang.
  • Shall have a minimum of 5+ years of people and team management experience.
  • Candidate must be an Indian Citizen

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal & communication skills are keys to success. Must be able to be a driver while maintaining strong collaborative relationships and clear roles and responsibilities with team members and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in leading and communicating across multiple functions and organizational levels. Able to communicate effectively from the individual contributor level to the Executive Leadership level.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience in turbomachinery design and analysis
  • Experience with turbine aerodynamics and mechanical analysis or simulations using Fluent, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Workbench, and optiSLang
  • 5+ years of people and team management experience
  • Indian citizenship
  • Propulsion engine experience and knowledge of aerospace engine qualification and certification requirements
  • Experience defining design and analysis scope for product development, risk reduction, qualification, and flight safety objectives
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery product development processes and tools
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, mentoring, communication, and decision-making skills
