Job Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
1. Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
2. Follows and supports Magna's operating principles, including:
a. Magna Employee Charter - Operating under its principles by treating all team members equally, fairly and with dignity and respect.
b. Abide by Kamtek policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Employee Handbook.
c. Open Door Policy - Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.
d. 5S - Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy "Everything has a place. Everything in its place".
e. Safety First - Obey the plant's safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
f. Promote MAFACT benchmarks to achieve World Class Manufacturing.
g. Core values - Treat all team members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values.
h. Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.
i. Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
3. Follow, comply and enforce all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs (Magna and OSHA Standards). Responsible to ensure employees are properly trained and adhering to such policies and enforcing disciplinary actions when safety infractions occur.
4. Own production line performance, monitoring KPIs such as OEE, scrap, cycle time, and downtime.
5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events, PFMEA updates, and standard work development.
6. Manage capital projects, from justification and budgeting to installation, commissioning, and operator training.
7. Troubleshoot complex production issues, applying structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, root cause analysis).
8. Strong knowledge of 4 and 5 axis CNC machining, including programming, and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
9. Understanding of error proofing techniques and devices to prevent customer related quality issues.
10. Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and work holding solutions to improve repeatability, reduce setup time, and enhance part quality.
11. Lead machining capability improvements, including spindle utilization, tool life management, and reduction of scrap and rework.
12. Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, dimensional variation, tool wear, and surface finish problems using structured problem-solving methods. 13. Develop process documentation that ensures the robust manufacture of high-pressure die cast structural components finishing operations. Documentation includes work instructions, problem solving techniques, continuous improvement, lessons learned, and other topics as necessary to build world class organization.
14. Conduct studies of time and motion to determine machine capability, manpower efficiency, and better ergonomics.
15. Ensure good communication of all customer driven changes to make certain that cast parts are built to proper product revision levels.
16. Ensure effective timeline management skills are used to ensure timely delivery which meets program milestones and monitor with regular reviews of timelines with process engineers Promote attention to detail ensuring that finishing lines are built and maintained in accordance to Magna and Kamtek build standards.
17. Participate in quoting of new products ensuring the most suitable methods are being quoted which take into consideration volume and quality requirements 18. Presentation skills appropriate for both customer and supplier interface
19. Develop personal goals in WorkDay, to be approved by your Manager, and update your progress throughout the year.

  • Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as needed to meet customer requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for this position include being able to lift up to a weight of 40 pounds and the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
Some of the equipment and tools used are a computer, telephone, copier/printer, fax machine, and an assortment of basic hand tools.
KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or combination of education and experience.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: CNC machining and programming (M&G Code, Macro, Siemen's Controls), robots and automation (Fanuc), CAD and/or CAD viewer experience, must have a good working knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls engineering and standard fabrication
OTHER: Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES? Manufacturing experience with CNC equipment preferable in a Die Cast environment.
HOW MUCH? Minimum of three years
