Job Description
At Gilead our pursuit of a healthier world for all people has yielded a cure for hepatitis C, revolutionary improvements in HIV treatment and prevention as well as advancements in therapies for viral and inflammatory diseases and certain cancers.
We set and achieve bold ambitions in our fight against the world’s most devastating diseases, united in our commitment to confronting the largest public health challenges of our day and improving the lives of patients for generations to come.
We are seeking a Senior Manager, People Analytics Insight Partner located in Foster City, CA.
Why this role matters
Gilead is making high‑stakes choices about workforce strategy, rewards, locations, and culture in a rapidly evolving scientific and business landscape. This role exists to move leaders beyond having data to acting on insight—integrating high‑quality analytics, strong sense-making, and influential consulting to shape enterprise decisions that affect our candidates, employees, and patients around the world.
This is not a reporting or back-office analytics role. You will regularly partner with key decision-makers, including executives, to identify their needs, collect meaningful data, perform accurate analyses, and craft compelling narratives.
What you’ll do
- Partner with senior HR, executive, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous business challenges into well‑designed analyses and clear, actionable insights.
- Own end‑to‑end analytic consulting—from question framing and study design through analysis, narrative development, and executive influence. While driving impact with your leaders, you’ll also get to collaborate with teammates who are experts in technology & dashboarding as well as employee listening.
- Design analytics processes and products that deliver consistent, high‑quality insights across the enterprise.
- Integrate and analyze complex datasets using diverse methods (e.g., survival analysis, text analysis, advanced survey analytics).
- Evaluate the impact of programs, decisions, and external events on employee sentiment, behavior, and outcomes.
- Craft data‑driven narratives that surface key dynamics, tradeoffs, and implications in ways that resonate with senior audiences.
What makes this role distinctive
- Enterprise‑grade data you can trust: You’ll work with a rich, productionized people data ecosystem governed by rigorous standards and millions of automated quality checks—allowing you to focus on insight, not data hygiene.
- Real executive influence: You’ll be a consultative partner to senior leaders by connecting insights, building longitudinal views, suggesting alternative hypotheses, and making recommendations—often at the point when consequential tradeoffs are being made.
- True ownership: Every team member leads at least one major enterprise initiative, with clear accountability and visible impact. You’ll also be responsible for partnering with the Total Rewards center of expertise to identify and leverage insights related to compensation and benefits.
- Interdisciplinary excellence: Our team members all hail from different countries and non-HR disciplines, bringing a wealth of unique perspectives that drive our success.
- Ethics and integrity as table stakes: We work with sensitive employee data and hold ourselves to high standards of privacy, governance, and scientific integrity—even when the answers are uncomfortable.
- External partnerships and research: Opportunities to collaborate with leading universities and innovative partners, including wearable technology and AI developers.
- Proven growth paths: Alumni from this team have gone on to lead top‑tier analytics functions, head Total Rewards for billion‑dollar companies, and serve as CHROs.
This role is a great fit if you
- Enjoy operating at the intersection of analytics, psychology, and influence.
- Care as much about asking the right question as producing analysis.
- Are energized by influencing high‑stakes decisions.
- Value rigor, ethical data use, and clear thinking.
- Want your work to shape how a global company invests in and supports people.
Required qualifications
- BA or BS degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or 6+ years with a master’s degree.
- Experience in people/HR analytics, business analytics, industrial/organizational psychology, consulting, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex, ambiguous business questions into rigorous, decision‑ready analyses.
- Integrity: We’re uncompromising when it comes to doing what’s right and respecting employee data.
- Analytical mindset (e.g., fluency in metrics and statistics, visualization, survey methodology, data management, etc.). We approach problems with humble curiosity to learn, explore, and mine the data for insights. We place a premium on accurate, replicable, and understandable analyses.
- Intrinsic drive to contribute and collaborate effectively in a small, high‑impact team.
- Outstanding ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong organization, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work onsite at least three days per week in Foster City, California.
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency with Python, R, ThoughtSpot, AWS, Workday, and/or Tableau.
- Experience with AI applications or advanced statistical methods (e.g., latent growth curve modeling).
- Deep experience partnering with HR, executives, or consulting clients in complex organizations.
People Leader Accountabilities:
•Create Inclusion - knowing the business value of diverse teams, modeling inclusion, and embedding the value of diversity in the
way they manage their teams.
•Develop Talent - understand the skills, experience, aspirations and potential of their employees and coach them on current
performance and future potential. They ensure employees are receiving the feedback and insight needed to grow, develop and
realize their purpose.
•Empower Teams - connect the team to the organization by aligning goals, purpose, and organizational objectives, and holding
them to account. They provide the support needed to remove barriers and connect their team to the broader ecosystem.
