Senior Manager, Financial Systems
Oversee the strategy, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Chegg’s financial technology ecosystem, including ERP, Billing, Revenue, and reporting platforms. This role partners closely with Finance and Accounting leadership in a public company environment, bridging Finance, Accounting, and IT to ensure data integrity, strong internal controls, automated processes, and scalable operations.
This is a hands-on role requiring active participation in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, supporting Accounting and Finance leadership with system architecture and ownership, issue resolution, and continuous process improvements to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in a 24/7 operating environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy & Implementation: Define and execute the long-term financial systems strategy, including upgrades, integrations, and large-scale technology transformations and implementations.
- Month-End Close Support: Actively support close cycles by resolving system issues, supporting reconciliations, and improving close processes through direct, hands-on involvement.
- System Optimization: Streamline and automate end-to-end financial processes (accounting, reporting, procurement, billing, revenue recognition, and financial planning) to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Data Integrity, Controls & Compliance: Own the integrity, security, and reliability of financial systems data in a public company environment. Serve as the primary owner of IT Application Controls (ITACs) across ERP, Billing, Revenue, and reporting systems, including control design, documentation, testing support, and remediation. Lead User Access Reviews (UARs), ensuring appropriate segregation of duties, timely access provisioning and deprovisioning, and SOX compliance. Partner closely with Internal Audit and External Auditors to support audits, walkthroughs, and testing, and drive continuous control improvements.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and IT for all integrated financial systems.
- People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4–5 financial systems analysts, providing technical guidance, prioritization, and career development.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage relationships and contracts with fintech vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and service providers.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in financial systems management, including supporting Finance and Accounting leadership at a public company.
- Technical Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with ERP, Billing, and Revenue systems (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa, Recurly, Zuora RevPro) and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, data lakes), including data and systems migrations.
- Leadership & Skills: Strong project management, strategic thinking, analytical skills, and proven people-management experience.
