Sr Manager Data Science

Job Summary:
This hands-on leadership role is responsible for partnering closely with business stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities where innovative data science techniques can unlock measurable value. You will lead the transformation of strategic priorities into tangible business outcomes by managing, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing team of data scientists. This high-visibility position interfaces directly with senior leaders and plays a pivotal role in enabling organizational growth and transformation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with business leaders to deeply understand their strategies, key initiatives, and success metrics—ensuring shared ownership of business outcomes.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of highly technical data scientists, including hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development.
- Define and execute the organization’s data science strategy, methodology, and best practices.
- Drive technical engagements with business units and functional leaders across the enterprise.
- Act as a catalyst for advanced analytics and data science adoption throughout the company.
- Educate business users on analytical concepts and advocate for data-driven decision making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive the adoption and integration of models, insights, and tools into business workflows.
- Identify and apply innovative analytical techniques—including machine learning and predictive modeling—to solve complex business problems.
- Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of advanced analytics models, including predictive and prescriptive solutions.
- Manage relationships with external data science vendors and consultants as needed.
- Ensure team compliance with health and safety guidelines and organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect organizational information.
- Stay current with advancements in data science by participating in continuing education, industry events, and professional communities.
- Contribute to team goals by supporting related projects and cross-functional initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics, engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 8+ years of relevant work experience, including 2+ years directly managing data scientists or data analysts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep expertise in statistics, forecasting, and machine learning techniques such as predictive modeling, clustering, and network analysis
- Strong ability to distill complex business challenges into practical data science solutions
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive change and influence at all organizational levels
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying machine learning algorithms in production
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL
- Experience with cloud-based data science tools and platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure), distributed computing environments, and large-scale data processing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in a related quantitative field
- Experience leading full life-cycle data science projects using Agile methodologies
- Prior experience in analytical consulting or advisory roles
