Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Commercial Learning & Capability Transformation – Global Commercial Pompe & Fabry (US) is a key commercial learning and capability partner responsible for building and delivering high-impact, compliant learning solutions that drive field performance and patient impact.
 
This is not a traditional training role. It is a hands-on, business-embedded partner who translates brand strategy into capability, elevates field effectiveness, and ensures audit-ready execution at all times.
 
The individual will play a foundational role in designing and delivering commercial capabilities across the employee lifecycle - from onboarding through launch readiness, continuous capability development, and ongoing field performance support, while helping advance modern, scalable approaches to commercial learning.
 
Above all, your work will ensure BioMarin's Pompe & Fabry commercial teams are capable, confident, and ready to perform -translating every learning experience into stronger commercial execution and better outcomes for patients living with Pompe and Fabry disease.

What You'll Drive
1. Business-Aligned Capability Strategy
  • Act as the primary learning partner to the U.S. Pompe & Fabry business.
  • Translate brand strategy, POA priorities, evolving field needs, and commercial performance insights into targeted learning and continuous capability development plans.
  • Build role-based capability journeys across:
    • Scientific fluency
    • Customer engagement & selling excellence
    • Competitive readiness

2. New Hire Training Excellence (Foundational Priority)
  • Own the end-to-end onboarding experience for the U.S. Pompe & Fabry commercial organization.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to build a future-ready onboarding journey from the ground up—reimagining how commercial capabilities are developed through modern learning experiences, innovative technology, and scalable design.
  • Design structured, compliant onboarding journeys that accelerate time-to-productivity while preparing field team members to confidently perform in their roles.
  • Integrate disease, product, systems, compliance, and commercial capabilities into a cohesive learning journey.
  • Continuously evolve onboarding using learner feedback, business insights, and field performance data.
3. Hands-On Program Design & Delivery
Design and deliver high-quality learning across multiple modalities:
  • Live (in-person & virtual)
  • Workshops and simulations
  • Digital and on-demand experiences
Lead execution of:
  • Product & disease training
  • New hire onboarding and launch readiness
  • POA learning experiences
  • Ongoing capability development through reinforcement, coaching, microlearning, and performance support
  • Continuous learning initiatives that strengthen field effectiveness throughout the year
Step in when needed to facilitate learning, address emerging business priorities, and ensure continuity of capability development.
 
4. Compliance & Audit Readiness
  • Ensure all training is fully compliant and inspection-ready.
  • Partner with MLR/PRB to review and approve content.
  • Maintain training materials, records, and documentation within compliant systems.
  • Ensure required training is delivered, tracked, and defensible.
5. Innovation, Growth Mindset & Modern Learning
  • Bring a growth mindset to continuously evolve the learning experience.
  • Leverage modern approaches to improve learner engagement and retention, including:
    • AI-powered coaching and simulations
    • Microlearning and in-the-flow-of-work enablement
  • Continuously identify opportunities to extend learning beyond formal training through reinforcement strategies that improve long-term capability and knowledge retention.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize how learning is designed, delivered, and reinforced.
  • Identify and pilot innovative approaches that improve learner engagement while maintaining validation and compliance standards.
6. Measurement & Business Impact
  • Define and track metrics tied to performance:
    • Time-to-proficiency (20% reduction in first 12 months)
    • Training compliance (100% audit-ready training records and required training completion)
    • Learner engagement and retention
    • Field confidence and effectiveness
  • Use insights to continuously optimize programs.
  • Communicate impact to senior stakeholders.
7. Global Alignment & Scale
  • Design U.S.-based learning programs with global scalability in mind, identifying opportunities to leverage learning assets, capability frameworks, and best practices across regions where appropriate.
  • Partner closely with Global Commercial Learning & Capability Transformation colleagues to share insights, leverage proven learning approaches across therapeutic areas, collaborate on foundational learning initiatives, and adapt successful content and best practices for broader organizational impact.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse and adapt successful learning strategies, assets, and innovations developed across BioMarin franchises to accelerate capability building and create greater organizational consistency.
  • Balance the unique needs of the U.S. business with opportunities to drive greater global consistency, efficiency, and knowledge sharing.
8. Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Compliance, and Field Leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between learning, strategy, and execution.
  • Serve as a trusted learning partner on capability development.

What You Bring
  • 6–8+ years in Commercial Learning & Development, Sales Training, Commercial Enablement, or a related commercial capability role.
