As Senior Manager, Business Development- Americas, you will lead origination, evaluation, and advancement of development and acquisition opportunities across the Americas region, including wind, solar, storage, hybrid, and gas generation. You will oversee complex commercial analyses, and shape strategy across multiple markets. You’ll work with Energy Market Analysis, Energy Origination, Project Finance, Engineering, and regional development teams to advance Northland’s pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Origination & Market Development

  • Lead identification, assessment, and prioritization of new development, M&A, and partnership opportunities across Canada
  • Develop regional market-entry and growth strategies informed by market fundamentals, policy changes, and competitor intelligence.
  • Build and maintain external networks—including developers, landowners, partners, utilities, and corporate buyers—to source and progress opportunities.

Commercial Structuring & Financial Leadership

  • Oversee development of business cases and financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and scenario planning across assets and markets.
  • Translate financial and commercial insights into clear recommendations for investment decisions, portfolio prioritization, and corporate strategy.
  • Lead or supervise due diligence processes, coordinating technical, financial, legal, and commercial workstreams, and framing associated risk/return outcomes.

Deal Execution & Governance

  • Lead/support negotiations on development partnerships, land agreements, JV structures, or acquisition terms, working closely with Business Development team lead, regional hub leadership, Legal and Corporate Finance.
  • Oversee preparation of Investment Committee materials, including memos, presentations, and deal documentation.
  • Ensure alignment between Development, Origination, Project Finance, and regional teams on commercial structure, market assumptions, and value drivers.

Project Development Oversight

  • Support cross-functional coordination to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget, escalating risks early when needed.
  • Work with Market Analysis and Energy Origination to interpret market fundamentals and offtake landscape for each project.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in project development, corporate development/M&A, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or power/renewables.
  • Strong understanding of valuation, risk assessment, and financial modeling methodologies; comfort overseeing financial model outputs and assumptions.
  • Experience leading due diligence, negotiating commercial terms, or executing energy transactions.
  • Deep familiarity with U.S. and/or Canadian energy markets

Pay Range:

$139,200.00 - $174,000.00
