Job Description

Gilead Sciences is seeking a collaborative, action-oriented leader to help design, build and operate a next-generation biologics warehouse at our Foster City manufacturing site.

This is a rare opportunity to establish a new warehouse operation and create a lasting impact through both the systems you design and the teams you enable. Initial responsibilities will focus on developing an operational readiness plan and detailing requirements for digital supply chain systems. Responsibilities will transition through building the digital systems, coordinating readiness progress, starting up the new GMP facility, and ultimately overseeing warehouse operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead warehouse startup from concept to operations
Drive the operational readiness of a new state-of-the-art biologics warehouse—defining key milestones, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring a successful facility launch.

  • Own the digital backbone of the warehouse
Lead the design and implementation of SAP and supporting systems, bridging warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing execution to deliver a fully integrated, digital operation.

  • Deliver across construction and systems build
Partner with engineering, IT, and project teams to ensure both the physical facility and digital infrastructure are designed, delivered, and validated to meet operational and GMP requirements.

  • Drive a paperless, future-ready environment
Champion digital transformation by implementing streamlined, compliant, and data-driven processes that eliminate paper and improve efficiency.

  • Establish core warehouse operations
Define user requirements, develop SOPs, and ensure all equipment, utilities, and systems are qualified and ready to support GMP operations at launch.

  • Build and lead a high-performing team
Design the warehouse organization, recruit top talent, and develop onboarding and training programs to enable a successful startup and scalable future operations.

  • Integrate with existing operations
Collaborate with established warehouse teams to leverage best practices, ensure system consistency, and enable smooth organizational alignment across sites.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Masters degree with 6+ years of relevant professional experience, or BS with 8+ years of relevant professional experience – a degree in a relevant scientific or business discipline is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical operations/cGMP environment highly desirable.

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • Proven experience using and implementing SAP in a manufacturing or life sciences environment.

  • Strong understanding of clinical and commercial manufacturing operations and warehouse management.

  • Strategic thinking and ability to influence and constructively challenge the status quo.
