As a critical member of the Data & Analytics team, the Sr. Manager, BI & Data Visualization will lead a small team in prototyping, designing, developing and maintaining data visualization and reporting solutions. This person will oversee the transformation of complex datasets into clear, actionable insights and visuals for business stakeholders. This role involves strategic vision, pioneering implementation and integration of natural language queries (NLQs) into user-friendly reporting solutions to drive a culture of data democratization, in addition overseeing projects throughout their lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional teams aligning solutions to business objectives.
This is a remote position based in Canada. We will only consider candidates currently in Canada and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role: 

• Be a data visualization and analytics thought partner to leadership defining and implementing a data visualization strategy and center of excellence aligned to business goals.
• Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle of reporting solutions (e.g. interactive dashboards, general reporting templates) ensuring quality, accuracy and scalability.
• Evaluate and recommend modern technologies (e.g. natural language queries) to enhance reporting capabilities on structured data sets for faster time to insight.
• Create a clear implementation process, while managing capacity and timelines ensuring successful delivery.
• Lead and mentor a growing team of BI / Data Visualization Developers providing guidance in code review, UI/UX best practices and iterative dashboard development.
• Champion a data culture of self-service driving continuous reporting solution adoption with stakeholders through user-friendly features.

About you:   

• You have 5 - 7+ years of experience in a BI Developer/Analyst / Analytics Engineer developing scalable reporting dashboards in Power BI, Tableau and/or other visualization tools.
• You have 5+ years of managing a team of BI developers, analytics engineers, or analysts in an agile / Scrum environment and a demonstrated history of steering reporting solution initiatives cross-functionally with success.
• You have experience collaborating with business stakeholders, impacting decision making processes, providing business improvement recommendations, and data/visualization storytelling.
• You have a proven ability to develop SQL/SparkSQL and experience in modern cloud-based data warehouses, as well as a strong understanding of large event-based data sets and diverse schemas.
• You have experience implementing natural language queries (NLQs) into dashboards, increasing data literacy and adoption across the organization.
• You have an exceptional understanding of UI/UX best practices with a keen eye for visual design and attention to detail.
• You have a strong sense of business acumen and strategic thinking.
• You have strong interpersonal skills communicating with technical and non-technical audiences and can build relationships outside of your team reporting structure.
• You have experience translating business stakeholder needs into technical design documentation.
• You have a direct-to-consumer background or history of working in subscription services.
