Introduction
iRobot is seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to lead logistics optimization and cost transformation initiatives across Japan. This role goes beyond managing day-to-day logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for continuously improving logistics cost, service performance, inventory efficiency, and operational scalability while supporting a growing business.As the owner of Japan logistics operations, you will develop and execute logistics strategies, drive cross-functional projects, and identify opportunities to optimize transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks. A key part of the role is managing strategic relationships with logistics service providers. You will evaluate vendor performance, challenge existing operating models, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure iRobot maintains the most effective and cost-efficient logistics network.

• Ensure smooth execution of daily logistics operations in collaboration with Sales, Sales Operations, Supply Planning, Quality, Customer Care, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and coordinate warehouse audits with internal and external auditors.
• Lead logistics projects including new product launches, warehouse transitions, logistics network changes, and process improvement initiatives.
• Manage import logistics and customs compliance, ensuring adherence to Japanese regulations.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with logistics service providers, including warehouses, carriers, and freight forwarders.
• Drive logistics cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives through KPI governance, vendor management, automation, and process redesign
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
- Review and continuously enhance logistics strategies to improve cost efficiency, service performance, and operational scalability.
- Lead logistics-related projects such as warehouse transitions, transportation tenders, new product launches, and network optimization initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities through automation, digitalization, and operational redesign.
- Monitor and analyze logistics KPIs, including cost, service levels, quality, and inventory performance, and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with logistics providers while driving service, quality, and cost improvements.
- Conduct periodic reviews of logistics providers and assess alternative solutions to ensure continued competitiveness and operational excellence.
- Manage international transportation from manufacturing sites to Japan.
- Monitor shipment schedules and proactively resolve transportation and supply chain disruptions.
- Coordinate with factories, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time product availability.
- Manage shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs-related documents.
- Lead import customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with all applicable Japanese regulations.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through effective warehouse management processes and regular audits.
- Serve as a key business partner to Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, Finance, and global stakeholders by providing logistics expertise and operational support.
- Demonstrate iRobot's Builder's Code values and serve as a role model within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain or logistics management, including 3PL management, import/export operations, inventory control, and logistics process improvement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English. Experience working across multiple time zones in a global organization is preferred.
- Experience leading logistics projects such as warehouse relocation, forwarder transitions, WMS implementation, transportation tenders, or logistics network optimization.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholder
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with a high degree of autonomy.
