We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Virtualization Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep, hands-on expertise in VMware virtualization, Linux/Unix administration, enterprise storage platforms, operations, and advanced troubleshooting. In this role, you will be a critical part of our data center and ERP hosting operations team, responsible for maintaining a fully virtualized infrastructure integrated with enterprise storage solutions from Dell, HPE, and NetApp and ensuring high availability, stability, and performance across mission-critical systems.
This position is ideal for a seasoned technologist who excels in diagnosing complex issues, optimizing virtualized environments, and driving operational excellence across enterprise infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Architect, administer, and optimize enterprise-grade VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).
- Manage and support hyper-converged infrastructure environments (e.g., Dell EMC VxRail).
- Administer and support enterprise storage platforms, including Dell EMC, HPE, Alletra, and NetApp ONTAP environments.
- Manage SAN/NAS provisioning, LUN and volume management, zoning/masking coordination, capacity planning, snapshots, replication, and storage performance troubleshooting.
- Perform lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, resource optimization, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across VMware, Linux/Unix, Dell/HPE/NetApp storage, compute, and networking layers.
- Administer and support Linux/Unix operating systems (RedHat, Oracle Linux, and other Unix variants).
- Perform deep dive troubleshooting for OS level, kernel level, boot, package, and performance issues.
- Manage OS patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration hardening, and system tuning.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, Shell) and configuration tools.
- Support enterprise ERP hosting operations across virtualized Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
- Manage and maintain backup and replication solutions including snapshots, filesystem backups, and database backups.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture, configuration, and mock exercises.
- Drive incident, problem, and change management processes with strong Root Cause Analysis (RCA) capabilities.
- Develop infrastructure standards, operational guidelines, and best practices for virtualization and Linux/Unix systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams on design, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior administrators.
- 6+ years of experience in IT Operations or Data Center environment.
- 5+ years of hands-on VMware virtualization experience (vSphere/vCenter/ESXi).
- 3+ years of Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on enterprise storage administration or support experience, preferably across Dell, HPE, and/or NetApp storage platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong expertise in RedHat, Oracle Linux, and other Unix-based systems.
- Strong expertise in enterprise storage technologies from Dell, HPE, and NetApp, including SAN/NAS architecture and day-to-day operations.
- Understanding of Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, RAID concepts, multipathing, snapshots, replication, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Experience integrating storage with VMware clusters and Linux/Unix hosts, including datastore management, LUN mapping, and end-to-end performance troubleshooting.
- Advanced understanding of security, patching, and hardening tools.
- Certifications such as:
