About this Position
The Senior IBM Mainframe System Programmer installs, tests, and maintains the z/OS operating system, and related IBM and third-party software products. The System Programmer should have general knowledge of the operation of and problem-resolution for most vendor-provided mainframe software. Additionally, the candidate should have in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more specialized areas. The candidate will contribute to policy level IT standards and guidelines regarding software installation, system performance, system security requirements, disaster recovery testing, maintaining production and quality assurance LPAR's, improving system operations, and maximizing system resource utilization.

Essential Functions:
1. Planning
a. Installation and maintenance of CICS, DB2, and z/OS-related software
b. Capacity planning (transaction rates, memory, mainframe CPU)
c. Disaster Recovery
2. Administration
a. Support web interfaces to CICS transactions
b. Provide backup support for 23 DB2 for z/OS subsystems
c. Provide procedural documentation as appropriate.
3. Advising
a. Advise application programmers regarding interfaces and error handling
b. Advise DB2 DBA's regarding DSNZPARM's and system performance
c. z/OS storage administrators regarding needed file space requirements
4. Monitoring
a. z/OS, CICS and DB2 system performance
b. Application and system tuning
5. Problem resolution
a. On-call support for z/OS, CICS and DB2 subsystem concerns.
b. Analysis of system and application dumps.
