SMX is seeking a Sr. Graphics Designer to support INSCOM HQ by designing and producing graphics that support client needs and requirements while maintaining Government standards.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Create visually appealing and effective graphics for a variety of projects, including digital and print media (i.e., presentations, reports, websites, etc.).
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver designs that meet client expectations.
- Ensure all designs adhere to government standards, as well as maintain consistency with established brand guidelines.
- Establish guidelines for layout and composition to ensure visual consistency across all design outputs. This includes grid systems, spacing, alignment, and the placement of elements.
- Regularly review and update the brand guidelines to reflect changes in the brand’s strategy and design best practices.
- Develop a distinctive and versatile logo that represents the organization’s identity.
- Create variations of the logo for different uses, including color, monochrome, and simplified versions.
- Engage with DCD personnel to gather feedback, make necessary adjustments to designs, and ensure satisfaction.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve design practices and outputs.
- Utilize advanced features of Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to create high-quality graphics, illustrations, and layouts.
- Apply technical skills in color theory, typography, composition, and layout to create visually compelling designs.
- Select cohesive color palette that aligns with the brand’s personality and evokes the desired emotional response from the audience.
- Define primary, secondary, and accent colors, and provide guidance on their appropriate usage.
- Choose a set of typefaces that complement the brand’s identity.
- Establish guidelines for font usage, including hierarchy, sizes, spacing, and styles for headings, body text, and special text elements.
- Develop a style guide for imagery, including the types of photos, illustrations, and icons that align with the brand.
- Provide guidelines on how to source, edit, and use these visual elements effectively.
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner with DCD leadership or designated personnel to deliver desired and high-quality product(s) in advance of established deadlines.
Required Skills and Experience
- Active TS security clearance and eligible for SCI and NATO read-on prior to starting work.
- Master’s degree in a discipline covered under the applicable graphics design field of study with 4 years’ experience as a graphic designer OR a bachelor’s degree in a discipline covered under the applicable graphic design field of study with 6 years’ experience as a graphics designer OR an associate’s degree in a discipline covered under the applicable graphics design field of study with 8 years’ experience as a graphic designer OR 10 years’ experience as a graphic designer.
- 4 years’ experience with graphic design, programs, and applications such as, but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Microsoft Visio.
- 3 years’ experience with topography designs and techniques.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in DoD or IC environments.
- Adobe Certified Associate (ACA)
- UI/UX Design Specialization
- UX Design Professional Certificate
- Possession of excellent verbal and written skills with ability to communication presentations to stakeholders.

The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. The proposed salary for this position is:
$110,900—$184,800 USD
