As Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate product costs, supporting inventory valuation, analyzing manufacturing performance, and partnering with Operations to drive continuous improvement. This position is responsible for standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, and financial reporting while ensuring the integrity of product costing and inventory records.
The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance to provide meaningful financial analysis, improve manufacturing performance, and support strategic decision-making.
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Major Accountability:
- Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Perform monthly analysis of manufacturing variances including Purchase Price Variance (PPV), labor, overhead, scrap, and material usage.
- Lead inventory valuation activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly inventory and cost accounting journal entries.
- Ensure accuracy of Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and product costing within the ERP system.
- Lead annual standard cost roll and ongoing cost updates throughout the year.
- Prepare product cost estimates for new products and engineering changes.
- Analyze inventory reserves, slow-moving inventory, and obsolete inventory.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturing financial reporting.
- Identify cost savings opportunities and partner with Operations on continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Provides analysis of actual costs.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify trends impacting profitability.
- Investigate cost variances and provide recommendations to improve operational performance.
- Maintain inventory reconciliations between the ERP system and General Ledger.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory and manufacturing.
- Prepare recurring cost reports and KPIs for leadership.
- Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure accurate product costing.
- Assist with capital project financial analysis and return-on-investment evaluations.
- Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory and costing.
- Ensure assigned processes, procedures, and workflows comply with corporate policies and internal controls.
- Recommend improvements that enhance reporting, strengthen controls, and improve operational efficiency.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of Accounting or Finance experience required.
- Manufacturing cost accounting experience required.
- Experience with standard costing and inventory accounting required.
- Experience with ERP systems (QAD preferred) desired.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting and standard costing principles.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial leaders.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong financial analysis skills.
- Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for driving operational excellence.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office environment with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor.
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in production areas.
