This role is to build and deliver Honeywell Global and G. China Trade Compliance strategy, process, initiatives in support of Honeywell China Business. This role will require, under the leadership of G. China Trade Compliance Team, in the collaboration with Global Trade Compliance Leaders to carry out different Trade Compliance initiatives and projects, especially China export compliance projects, in G. China region. This role will also require a strong working relationship with local Business and Supply Chain leaders in G. China region.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Export Compliance Regulatory Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in Chinese export control regulations, including but not limited to:
- Dual-use items controls
- Rare earth and critical material export restrictions
- MOFCOM and China Customs export licensing requirements and updates
- Conduct impact assessments of regulatory changes and recommend appropriate actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in Chinese export control regulations, including but not limited to:
- Export Compliance Program Implementation
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal export compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with Chinese law and corporate global policies.
- Classify products, software, and technologies according to China’s export control lists.
- Conduct export licensing determination; prepare and submit export license applications as required.
- Customs & Government Liaison
- Act as the primary point of contact for customs and other regulatory authorities on export control matters.
- Coordinate with customs during audits, inspections, or inquiries related to export compliance.
- Manage and resolve export-related compliance issues arising from customs declarations or inspections.
- Internal Advisory & Training
- Provide timely and practical compliance advice to business units, including sales, supply chain, R&D, and logistics teams.
- Develop and deliver export compliance training to relevant employees to raise awareness and ensure adherence to policies.
- Global & Regional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance team to align China export processes with worldwide compliance standards.
- Support global compliance projects and initiatives, including system implementations, compliance audits, and process improvements.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc compliance reports for regional and global compliance management.
- Risk Management & Audits
- Conduct periodic internal audits and risk assessments of export activities to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Support internal and external compliance audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of export transactions, licenses, and compliance documentation.
- Process Improvement
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline export compliance processes while maintaining robust controls.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance trade compliance automation and system capabilities.
- Familiar with Import compliance as well.
- Familiar with HS code classification, COO determination, Customs Valuation, Royalty Fee defense, and E-book/H-book operations as well
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or above in International trade, Law, logistics, English, or Supply Chain Majors
- Master Degree is a big plus; Strong IT background is a big plus; Passing China Bar exam is a big plus
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in trade compliance/import & export operations in a global company
- Excellent English language skills to work with a global team (CET 6, equivalent or above)
- Interviews are mainly in English
- Being able to lead trade compliance project/Customs audit case independently
- Sensitive with data and good logic sense
- Being able to join global conference calls in China night time frequently
