About Team:
As part of Target’s Finance Technology portfolio, this team delivers enterprise-scale solutions that support a defined area of Finance capabilities, including financial data movement, business process automation, operational workflows, compliance-oriented capabilities, and integrations across enterprise platforms and supporting systems. The Senior Engineering Manager will lead product engineering teams focused on modernizing, extending, and operating finance technology capabilities that serve Finance team members, business partners, vendors, and connected enterprise processes across Target.

This role will support a specific Finance Product while also partnering across the broader Finance Technology portfolio to ensure solutions are well-integrated, scalable, and aligned to enterprise needs. The leader in this role should be comfortable working in a complex environment where enterprise platforms, packaged capabilities, open-source-based engineering, custom services, and vendor-supported solutions come together to support reliable finance capabilities and connected business processes across Target.

In parallel, the team may build strategic extensions and reusable services beyond enterprise platforms to meet Target’s scale, security, reliability, and experience needs. This may include internally developed APIs, event-driven integrations, Java and Spring Boot services, financial data pipelines, automation capabilities, packaged platform extensions, and user-facing tools that simplify complex finance workflows. This leader will help shape architectural direction, ensure interoperability across systems, and contribute to a modern, decoupled finance technology ecosystem.

About SEM:
The Sr. Engineering Manager (SEM) leads a team of engineers responsible for building, integrating, supporting, and operating Finance Technology solutions that enable critical financial capabilities and business processes. This includes ownership of enterprise platform capabilities, custom-built extensions, reusable services, integrations, and supporting packages or vendor-enabled solutions that deliver cohesive and scalable end-to-end outcomes. This role operates in close partnership with other engineering leaders across the Finance Technology domain, collectively delivering integrated solutions at enterprise scale.

This role operates within a broader, ongoing modernization of Target’s finance platforms, data flows, integrations, and ecosystem. The SEM is expected to deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and well-integrated solutions aligned with evolving architectural direction. Success in this role requires balancing platform adoption, packaged capabilities, and targeted custom engineering; exercising strong technical judgment on where to extend, configure, integrate, support, or build; and delivering reliably in a complex, highly integrated environment.

The SEM partners closely with Product, Finance stakeholders, Architecture, Security, Data, Operations, and vendor teams, and represents the team in cross-functional planning and architecture discussions. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape how finance technology evolves at enterprise scale while building durable engineering practices that can adapt as business needs and organizational alignment continue to evolve.
