In business since 1935, Daubert Chemical Company is a profitable, family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer and a market leader in the brands that we sell to our end users and distributors. We are seeking an experienced senior level EHS Specialist to work onsite at our plant near Midway airport.
This Senior EHS Specialist role is a senior individual contributor position with no direct reports. Success in this role is driven by technical depth in safety & environmental regulations, ownership of PSM and regulatory compliance, and the ability to influence leaders and teams across a non-union Class I Division 2 manufacturing environment.

These responsibilities are fundamental to the successful performance of this role.

  1. Regulatory Compliance & EHS Programs
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations for manufacturing and laboratory operations, including RCRA hazardous waste, air emissions, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and EPA-required plans.

  2. Process Safety Management (PSM)
Serve as a key site leader for OSHA PSM compliance, maintaining and continuously improving all 14 PSM elements in partnership with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production in a PSM-covered facility.

  3. Incident Investigation & Prevention
Own and lead the site incident investigation process, ensuring effective root cause analysis, corrective actions, and sustainable solutions that prevent recurrence and drive continuous improvement.

  4. Safety Leadership, Culture & Behavioral-Based Safety
Champion a strong safety culture by leading the Plant Safety Team, and by serving as the company leader for the SafeStart behavioral-based safety program. Reinforce best practices through engagement with leadership, training, audits, and proactive employee involvement. Ability to assess hazards, determine appropriate PPE requirements, audit PPE usage, and manage PPE selection, ordering, and inventory in compliance with OSHA standards.

  5. Training & Competency Management
Ensure all employees and contractors complete required EHS training by partnering with department leaders to identify needs, approving qualified training resources, and maintaining training plans that meet regulatory and company requirements.

  6. Regulatory Reporting & Agency Interface
Prepare, submit, and maintain accurate and timely regulatory filings and records, including OSHA injury logs, Tier II, SARA 313, RCRA reports, wastewater testing, and air emissions reports. Represent the facility during regulatory inspections and audits.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years of progressive EHS experience in chemical manufacturing  or similarly regulated industrial environments, including experience in a PSM-covered facility. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise applying OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience supporting or leading compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), including practical application of the 14 PSM elements.

  • Working knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste management, air permitting and emissions reporting, wastewater requirements, and EPA-required plans (e.g., SPCC).

  • Experience preparing and submitting regulatory reports and maintaining compliance records.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety and behavioral-based safety initiatives (e.g., SafeStart or similar) through influence, coaching, and technical credibility in a senior individual contributor role.

  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional projects using structured methods.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate, timely work.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels internally and externally.
