As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within Connected Commerce Technology, you lead multiple technical areas, manage the activities of multiple departments, and collaborate across technical domains. Your expertise is applied cross-functionally to drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams and aid the firm in remaining at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances.
Job responsibilities
- Set strategic direction for all aspects of engineering and architecture across your area product.
Engage with business stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement under your guidance.
Sets and scales multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) to drive firmwide objectives (speed, scalability, reliability, and cost-to-serve), including portfolio-level standards for AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release governance, automated test modernization, resilience engineering, and incident response acceleration; establishes guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse.
- Champion engineering practices; Improve the effectiveness of the Engineering teams through coaching, mentoring and resolution of impediments
- Partner with Architecture and SRE team for driving Non Functional Requirements, Modernization initiatives and controls
- Lead and participate in regular technical meetings, ensuring that architectural decisions align with the broader organizational goals and strategy.
- Create and maintain detailed technology roadmaps with corresponding work streams and stakeholders, ensuring all solutions and requirements are clearly understood and communicated
- Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
- Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
- Makes decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and strategic bets
- Carries governance accountability for technology decisions, regulatory compliance, and control obligations
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
- Experience working in the Payments domain
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Extensive hands-on experience in designing and building full stack cloud native distributed systems with high degree of availability, fault-tolerance & scalability using Java Spring.
- Experience in handling large volume of data with Databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle is critical for the role.
- Experience leading multi-organization adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering operating models (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment), including defining governance (human-in-the-loop decisioning, quality gates), measurement frameworks, and secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs across teams.
- Deep understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, and resiliency/security expectations at scale, with demonstrated ability to advise senior leaders on safe adoption, portfolio governance, and reuse-first strategies.
- Demonstrated prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
- Experience managing competing requirements to align product prioritization with technical capacity and feasibility, balancing solution priorities between long-term technical roadmap and short-term execution needs
- Understand and convey programming models, technologies, systems and API’s that are relevant for stakeholders
