We are hiring a Sr. Director of Security Engineering to build and lead the Cyber Security and tech controls Architecture Engineering Services (CAES) team at JPMorgan Chase. This is a people-manager role at Senior Executive Director scope, accountable for a team with the following mandates:
Lead CTC Architecture Engineering Services. Direct the centralized engineering organization that builds and owns every CTC Architecture software product, spanning threat modeling platforms, architecture platforms and automation, and test and quality platforms. Own how its capacity gets allocated. Match pooled capacity to the annual Operating Plan, portfolio priority, business value, and risk reduction in partnership with the CAES Product Director.
Lead a centralized engineering team built from teams that previously operated independently. Unite software engineers from across CTC Architecture under a single organization that reports directly to CTC Architecture leadership, and own hiring, performance, and career development for the combined team. Establish the CAES operating model and engineering standard. Define the pod structure, delivery standards, and capacity planning process for a newly formed organization, and hold the decision on technical architecture across the portfolio.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead CTC Architecture Engineering Services and direct centralized software engineering execution across CTC Architecture.
- Organize software engineers into product-aligned pods covering threat modeling platforms, architecture platforms and automation, test and quality platforms, and shared enablement across SRE, DevOps, and quality engineering.
- Hold the bar on secure-by-design, data protection, and operational resilience for the platforms CAES builds and runs. Own technical architecture decisions across the portfolio and serve as the escalation point for production incidents. Allocate Engineering Capacity Across the Portfolio .Match pooled engineering capacity to the annual Operating Plan, portfolio priority, business value, and risk reduction.
- Partner with the CAES Product Director to sequence development work against delivery urgency, business cases, and expected outcomes.
- Run the allocation process product teams use to request engineering, and rebalance capacity across pods as priorities change. Make delivery health and capacity utilization visible to CTC Architecture leadership. Lead a Centralized Software Engineering Team
- Bring software engineers who previously sat in separate CTC Architecture teams into a single organization reporting directly to CTC Architecture leadership. Set operational excellence standards (SLOs, KPIs) for quality, turnaround, and coverage that business units rely on.
- Provide dedicated engineering leadership so software engineers can focus on their craft, and lift day-to-day delivery management off leaders who run mixed teams today.
- Own performance management, staffing, and day-to-day prioritization for your architects and engineers. Protect time for functional contribution such as Community of Practice mentoring, and pattern authorship, and treat it as part of the job rather than extracurricular.
- Create stretch opportunities, run rigorous evidence-based promotion cases, and partner with the Chief Security Architect organization on calibration. Define the CAES operating model and resource plan, including pod structure, capacity planning cadence, and cross-discipline prioritization.
- Establish delivery standards and engineering practices that apply consistently across pods, replacing methods that vary team to team. Provide engineering sign-off on release readiness alongside CTC Architecture domain leads.
- Define and track the delivery, quality, and adoption metrics that tie engineering investment to measurable outcomes.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Formal training or certificate with 15+ years in technology building and shipping software at enterprise scale. Leading software engineering teams, including performance management, staffing, and career development.

- Experience leading a centralized or shared-services engineering team that serves multiple product owners, including allocating finite capacity against competing priorities.
- Track record of standing up or restructuring an engineering organization, including operating model, delivery standards, and engineering practice.
- Command of modern software delivery at scale, including architecture, SRE, DevOps, quality engineering, and production operations.
- Experience partnering with product management on roadmap, business cases, and investment decisions.
Working knowledge of secure-by-design engineering and the financial-services regulatory expectations that shape architecture decisions.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Prior experience leading an internal platform, product engineering, or security tooling organization at a large enterprise.
- Hands-on familiarity with AI/LLM systems in production: evaluation, guardrails, prompt/data security, and model governance. Background in security engineering, threat modeling, or architecture governance as a product domain.
- Experience integrating engineering teams that previously reported into separate leaders, and carrying in-flight commitments through the transition.
- Familiarity with pooled capacity models and the intake process product teams use to request engineering. Experience setting hiring, leveling, or development standards for senior technical talent.
- CISSP, CISM, advanced cloud architecture certifications, or comparable senior credentials.
