Houston First Corporation is on the looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to manage the operations of our contractors and building services. This role ensures the delivery of top-tier services, aiming for the highest level of customer satisfaction. The Senior Director will work closely with various departments, providing key operational and logistical guidance to enhance the utilization of Houston First’s facilities. 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Supervises: Directors, Managers, and contractors
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training and supervising team members.
  • Plan, assign and appraise performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Reviews and approves logistical and operational methods, equipment, rigging, structural impacts or other special requests.
  • Check status of major construction and bid specification details for capital improvement projects.
  • Review and approve invoices and payments for supply purchases or contractor billings.
  • Attending site visits and production meetings for current and future events, as required.
  • Works with facility maintenance contractor on day-to-day facility issues, setting priorities for on-going and major repairs or renewal projects.
  • Responds to requests for information, statistical data, or special reports.
  • Reviews non-event work schedules for building maintenance that impact operations and building functions.
  • Oversees elevator maintenance, fire alarm testing, painting, facility maintenance contractor and capital project construction or renewal projects.
  • Spearheads the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED) certification program to continually improve the facility, processes, and procedures.
  • Leads Capital Project planning and management.
  • Other duties and special projects as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or experience can be substituted.
  • 10 years’ experience in convention center, stadium, or comparable facility, required.
  • 4 years’ experience in a leadership role required.
  • Tridium certification for programming, required.
  • Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), required.
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) certification, required.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification, required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Computer literacy with ability to use programs such as MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Sustainability Program
  • Strong project management experience with construction and/or renewal projects
  • Proven team leader with a prominent level of energy and motivation
  • Counseling skills, with the ability to develop those that report to them.
  • Effective communication including oral, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to motivate team to produce quality work in tight timeframes.
  • Ability to facilitate and participate in group meetings.
  • Understanding, yet persuasive and decisive when dealing with others in the organization
  • Thorough understanding of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions
