Summary
At Turion Space, our Platform Engineering team is building the infrastructure backbone that powers the next generation of space exploration. As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you'll architect secure, automated deployment pipelines and compliance frameworks that enable our engineering teams to rapidly deliver spacecraft control systems, autonomous satellite operations, and mission-critical applications while meeting the stringent security requirements of DoD and IC customers.
Our team’s mission is to enable Turion engineers to efficiently and reliably deliver products at scale, and support missions that can’t afford downtime or security vulnerabilities when hardware is operating hundreds of miles above Earth. You’ll help create the infrastructure for a self-service platform that is as reliable and cutting-edge as the spacecraft it supports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain automated pipelines for deploying infrastructure, applications, and updates

  • Develop security models integrating continuous monitoring, STIG scanning, and compliance reporting

  • Guide the deployment team in best practices for code-based infrastructure and patching

  • Ensure customer requirements for rapid, secure deployments translate into robust tool chains

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure end-to-end automation, logging, and incident response capabilities

  • Act as SME for security and automation topics during customer and internal reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems/IT, or an engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevSecOps, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering type roles

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required. Top Secret (TS/SCI‑eligible) clearance preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of ATO/authorization processes for DoD/IC environments

  • In-depth knowledge of integrating security and automation for classified IT (JSIG, RMF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-218)

  • Proven ability with CI/CD pipelines, configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI), and automated compliance reporting

  • Development experience in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript)

  • Experience deploying to classified cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • Experience with container scanning tools (e.g., Syft, Trivy, Fortify, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes

  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD, FluxCD)

  • Experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK, Crossplane)

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana)

Compensation: $180,000-$230,000

What We Do

Turion Space is building the infrastructure to secure and sustain the future of space. Founded to address the growing need for space domain awareness, in-space servicing, and debris mitigation, Turion designs, builds, and operates spacecraft with real-world operational capability. Our vehicles are built for national security and commercial missions that require speed, autonomy, and resilience.

We believe the next chapter of space operations will be defined by who can act, not just observe. That’s why we’re focused on building platforms that move fast, adapt in orbit, and solve problems ranging from satellite servicing to tactical intelligence gathering.

We successfully launched our DROID.001 satellite in June 2023 and DROID.002 in March 2025. DROID.003 is scheduled for launch in 2026.

Why Work With Us

Turion Space is where startup grit meets real space missions. We build and fly spacecraft for defense, servicing, and domain awareness. No red tape, no sidelines, just hands-on work that matters.
