Position Summary:
This position is accountable to plan, design, develop and implement major plant engineering projects in order to create and maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities to affect the most economical manufacturing cost.
It is responsible for leading activities to improve the quality and effectiveness of all manufacturing processes, including but not limited to substrate attach, die attach, wire bonding, hermetic sealing, and environmental screening. He/she is responsible for associated metrics management, corrective action analysis, process troubleshooting, new process development/qualification, and mentoring of the process engineering staff. Other Responsibilities include the “operational ownership” of all manufacturing processes, support of all related products during their manufacturing lifecycle, and support of document control activities to ensure documentation correctness and completeness is available for all product builds and process operations.
Essential Job Duties:
- Developing strategies and plans, critical path analysis, earned value management, analysis and implementation of unplanned work scope, etc.
- Analyze current production processes and apply lean/six sigma principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Responsible for performing highly complex activities for the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods.
- Determines, specifies, revises, and/or reviews economic methods, operation sequence, tooling for the fabrications of parts, finishing and assembly, components, subassemblies, or final products.
- Develops assembly guides, procedures, and illustrations.
- Provides technical guidance to product operations, assists supervisor on new techniques, and may assist in determining the cause of rejected parts and their disposition.
- Participates in cost studies and equipment recommendations.
- Provides guidance to assist manufacturing engineers and/or tool designers.
- Provides work leadership and training to professional employees.
- Investigate and solve problems in manufacturing of products.
- Implement cost reduction projects for methods, processes, and materials on present manufactured products.
- Develop manufacturing routing (operation sequence and production standards) for producing products.
- Develop operational procedures.
- Justify and acquire new equipment, including writing of AFEs.
- Review and implement engineering orders that relate to process engineering documents.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

- Mastery of MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534

- Demonstrated ability to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and solve problems.
- Must be able to interface with floor personnel and provide clear direction/training
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- 10+ years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience is preferred.
- Understanding of common electronic manufacturing documentation, a must.
- Effective use of common electronic manufacturing equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, PLD programmers, etc.
- Experienced using Windows operating systems including Microsoft Office products
- Experience working for an ISO9000n or AS9100 accredited organization is a plus
Skills Required
