We are looking to onboard a Senior data platform architect as part of Aristocrat's Enterprise Data & Insights team that will lead the architecture, administration and cost management of our Enterprise data platform. This role is a combination of technical leadership, hands-on technical expertise and demonstrating strong technical partnerships with other COEs in the company. The data platform architect will help define the overall data cloud tools strategy, modernization efforts and help drive cost management & monitoring initiatives. This role will report to the VP of Data Engineering within the Enterprise data & insights group.

  • Primary responsibility is to perform design, development and maintenance of the enterprise data warehouse (EDW), operational data store (ODS/Datalake), ETL processes, CI/CD deployment frameworks.
  • Design data solutions with a focus on cost efficiency and ease of use, making our data platform accessible and beneficial to a wide range of user groups.
  • Lead the development of Data engineering frameworks like data validation framework, CI/CD framework, access management framework making our data platform accessible and beneficial to wide range of user groups.
  • Designs and develops complex and large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs using Snowflake, SQL, Big Query, python and other data engineering toolsets.
  • Help build next generation data and platform architecture to simplify data consumption.
  • Support the data governance function around meta-data management to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of meta-data.
  • Implement Data platform administration and cost management best practices. Build utilities to track CPU consumptions and cost tracking for all data engineering infrastructure. Implement Terraform for infrastructure as code to optimize & automate infrastructure maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain high standards of data governance on access management, ensuring the integrity, security, and compliance of our data across all initiatives.
  • Investigate and incorporate modern data services and technologies to boost the functionality and efficiency of our data platform, in line with our strategic objectives.
  • Build data ingestion/validation/security frameworks for both real time and batch processes.
  • Build data audit frameworks to enable high maintainability & restartability for production data environments.
  • Work with stakeholders including senior leadership, Analysts, Data Scientists and Design teams to assist with data-related technical problems and support their data infrastructure & engineering needs.
  • Ability to learn quickly, be flexible, adapt and strive to excel in a fast paced, changing environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or mathematics or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in Data Platform architecture and Engineering areas.
  • 10+ years' experience working in and with data lakes, data warehouses, streaming platforms, and cloud platforms.
  • 5+ years' experience in cloud technologies, preferably GCP & Snowflake.
  • Deep understanding of data observability principles and the ability to develop strategies that enhance data accessibility and utility.
  • Proven experience in data platform architecture, ideally with a background in areas such as data integration & analytics, data storage, and data performance management.
  • Expert knowledge of ETL concepts, development, and experience with various Data Tools in the market - on-prem and cloud.
  • Expert knowledge on SQL, python and other utilities in data engineering space.
  • Strong experience with Data Design and Data Strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance practices.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, MS Synapse.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary

Our goal is to pay a market competitive salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills, work location, and internal pay equity.
