Purpose of the role

To enable data-driven strategic and operational decision making through extracting actionable insights from large datasets, performing statistical and advanced analytics to uncover trends and patterns, and presenting findings through clear visualisations and reports.

Accountabilities

  • Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification, documenting data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations for improvement.
  • Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to large datasets to uncover trends and correlations, develop validated logical data models, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations that drive operational and process improvements, leveraging machine learning/AI.
  • Through data-driven analysis, translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations, identifying opportunities for operational and process improvements.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards and visual reports using applicable tools and automate reporting processes for regular and ad-hoc stakeholder needs.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.

  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.

Join us as a Sr. Data Engineer at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to build and manage robust, scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of our digital solutions.  

To be successful as a Sr. Data Engineer , you should have experience with:

  • Domain & Product Expertise: Excellent understanding of Corporate Banking around the concepts of Data products and its work flow including processes, systems, and their integration.   

  • Proven experience in Requirement elicitation (workshops, interviews, shadowing teams).Writing BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, Gap analysis and impact  assessment. 

  • Strong ability to translate business problems into functional & non-functional requirements. Experience working in Agile / hybrid delivery models. 

  • Must have taken multiple problem statements to delivery. Over all 10-12 years of business analysis experience is required. Must have Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have strong analytical skills, logical thinking. 

  • Experience supporting SIT, UAT, defect triage, go-live readiness, and post-implementation support.   

  • Strong analytical skills and logical thinking for managing issues in a high-pressure environment .   

  • Experience of working within a System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile project environment (Agile Central, JIRA, Confluence).

  • Process Optimization & Transformation: Demonstrated experience in process optimization and Process / design mapping, including As-is / To-be process mapping, Identifying bottlenecks, manual touchpoints and automation opportunities. Experience with STP improvement, cycle-time reduction, error reduction initiatives by adopting Customer Centric approach.   Business Readiness activities including Target Operating Model, Training support, Operational Impact Assessments . Must possess excellent Visio, Excel. PPT skills.  

  • Stakeholder & Delivery Management: Strong stakeholder management skills. Clear communicator with ops, tech teams, and other stakeholders . Ability to manage conflicting priorities and drive consensus. Must be able to work with cross functional teams involving representation of product, operations, developers, testers, PMs, SMs and senior stakeholders.   

  • Behavioral & Soft Skills :Ability to work in fast-paced, high-regulatory environments, Clear communicator, Detail-oriented with a process and control mindset. 

Desirable Skill Sets:

  • Data Analytics :Ability to work with data, improve processes & automation, Root cause analysis, Continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with SQL, dashboards or reporting tools is a plus.

  • Platform & Integration Knowledge: API-based integrations, Legacy core banking system interfaces, Vendor system experience .

  • Change & Adoption Management: Experience supporting Change communication ,Adoption tracking post rollout etc.

  • AI Tooling : Ability to use AI Assistants for Requirements elicitation as well as analysis support. 

  • Exposure to Digital Assets & Emerging Technology: Demonstrated exposure to Digital Assets, including foundational understanding of Blockchain, Tokenisation, Stablecoins, and evolving concepts such as Disintermediation. Working knowledge of asset trading processes is a plus.
