We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join us as we build cutting-edge technology solutions!  This is your opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to delivering best in class service to our customers.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making and technology adoption within a fast-paced, globally distributed team. You will focus on developing and optimizing data models, evaluating emerging technologies, and implementing cutting-edge solutions within the Azure ecosystem. Collaboration with diverse stakeholders and navigating complex challenges will be integral to your success. Your contributions will enable scalable and reliable data solutions, empowering teams to extract actionable insights and achieve strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations for new data technologies, tools, and processes.
• Assess and compare technologies in terms of cost, performance, reliability, scalability, and feature sets.
• Provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders for adopting or retiring technologies.
• Design, optimize, and maintain data models using Power BI and Microsoft Analysis Services.
• Build advanced DAX-based calculated measures, custom tables, and other enhancements to enable deep insights.
• Continuously refine data models for performance and scalability.
• Design and manage data pipelines using Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines.
• Integrate, process, and transform data using Databricks for ETL, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams, often during late-night hours to accommodate international schedules.
• Foster communication across diverse groups to gather resources and resolve issues autonomously.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, providing primary and secondary support.
• Manage critical issues during on-call weeks, ensuring seamless handoffs to offshore teams.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with DAX for developing calculated measures, custom tables, and optimizing data models within Power BI or Microsoft Analysis Services.
• Proficiency in the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines, and Databricks.
• Hands-on experience with Spark and advanced coding for data engineering and analytics tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct POCs and provide comprehensive evaluations of data technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and self-sufficiency in navigating scattered information and diverse team interactions.
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including late-night and rotational on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working within a similar organizational environment.
• Familiarity with the nuances of cloud cost and performance optimization.
• Background in evaluating Microsoft Fabric versus Azure Databricks in enterprise environments.
• Previous exposure to managing global teams and communicating effectively across time zones.
• West Coast residency to align with team schedules.

Salary Range

Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $146,400 to $175,100 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
