JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Cost Accountant works closely with the Operations Controller as the subject matter expert on all cost accounting activities for the company, ensuring an accurate representation of product and manufacturing costs and expenses on the company's financial statements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and close daily manufacturing job orders.
  • Review cost and variance trends; researching significant variations and recommend appropriate response.
  • Prepare daily operating performance analysis; including cost absorption, site utilization, expenses and hours to identify significant issues in a timely fashion.
  • Review new BOMs and Routers for accuracy and establishing new cost standards.
  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation and gross margin analysis.
  • Track CAPEX requests, spend and capitalize asset as required.
  • Perform data analysis using ERP and ODBC reporting tools as required to perform job duties or as requested by management staff.
  • Monitor operating forecasts based on budgets. Review significant variations and analyze operating impact.
  • Prepare labor and overhead rates in line with operating budget.
  • Assist other employees and department leaders with information and/or analysis when requested.
  • Complies with company, quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WOULD BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Job shop experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • High level skills with ERP systems, with experience in data queries and extraction.
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be self-motivated, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

HOURS:

8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday

This is not a remote position

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
