The Senior Consultant is an individual contributor within the Professional Services organization. This role combines strong knowledge in web application security, networking, and cloud delivery with hands-on software development and scripting capabilities.
In this role, you will act as a key technical resource for customer deployments while driving internal delivery innovation—designing, coding, and maintaining custom automation scripts, internal tools, and AI/LLM-assisted workflows that improve consulting efficiency across the team.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesHands-On Tooling & Automation Engineering- Build & Maintain Internal Tooling: Architect and write internal tools, CLIs, and automation utilities (using Python, Terraform, and APIs) to streamline onboarding, standard configurations, and operational workflows for the consulting practice.
- AI & LLM Integration: Build and embed AI-powered capabilities and LLM-assisted workflows into operational tooling to automate log analysis, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
- Delivery Automation: Continuously identify repetitive implementation tasks and build automated scripts and frameworks to optimize delivery speed and quality.
- Technical Leadership: Act as a key technical resource on F5 security, application delivery, and cloud networking solutions for enterprise customer engagements.
- End-to-End Implementation: Own technical design, configuration, integration, and validation for client projects.
- Advanced Diagnostics & Escalation: Function as an experienced technical resource for diagnosing and resolving operational issues, infrastructure bottlenecks, and delivery obstacles.
- Technical Risk Management: Analyze customer architectures to proactively identify technical risks and design robust mitigation strategies.
- Reusable Blueprints & Patterns: Translate field experiences into reusable code templates, standard operating procedures, and technical assets for the broader consulting organization.
- Trusted Technical Advisor: Build strong, technical credibility with customer engineering teams, security architects, and technical leadership.
- Product Feedback Loop: Channel technical learnings, bug findings, and feature gaps from client environments back to F5 Product and Engineering teams.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience:
- 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Professional Services, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Web Operations supporting enterprise environments.
- Proven track record of handling complex application delivery and security infrastructure.
- Software Development & Automation: Advanced, hands-on scripting/programming proficiency in Python and Terraform. Demonstrated history of building developer utilities, CLIs, internal tools, or infrastructure-as-code (IaC) modules.
- AI/LLM Integration: Practical, hands-on experience integrating AI/ML APIs, LLM tools, or intelligent scripts into internal workflows, diagnostic tools, or operational tasks.
- Layer 3–7 Deep Domain Expertise: Strong knowledge in at least three of the following domains:
- Web Application Firewalls (WAF) & Bot Management
- Load Balancing, Reverse Proxies, and API Gateways
- Layer 3–7 DDoS Mitigation and CDN Architecture
- Cloud Operations and Multi-Cloud Networking
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience deploying and managing solutions on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Networking & Web Technologies: Strong foundational and deep Layer 7 expertise, including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, TLS/SSL, and modern web application delivery architectures.
- Troubleshooting Excellence: Exceptional root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills across customer infrastructure, networking, and application layers.
- Consultative Communication: Ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly to both enterprise customer engineering teams and internal stakeholders.

- Experience in web operations, incident response, customer support, or system monitoring
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills; customer relationship management focus
